The only 2-pin connectors that were close was something labeled "Cooling Water Stop Valve" that uses blue/red & violet/red wires but this is only used in a Tiptronic.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After removing the starter on my 2000 Porsche 996 Carrera Convertible with manual transmission, I found an extra "mystery connector" that is not connected to anything in the photo below: I don't remember disconnecting this connector. I've also removed the alternator and it is not the alternator connector or the knock sensor or the secondary air injection solenoid which I can see still connected. The two wire colors are blue/orange & violet/red. I've looked through my Bentley Manual electrical diagrams and can't find any 2-pin connectors with these wire combinations. The combination violet/red seems to be mainly used for a +5V power supply. The blue/orange combination is used frequently but always goes to connectors with 4 or more pins. The only 2-pin connectors that were close was something labeled "Cooling Water Stop Valve" that uses blue/red & violet/red wires but this is only used in a Tiptronic. The next closest one was labeled "Valve Tank Venting" that uses blue/red & violet wires but I can't figure out where this connection is located. Anyone have any guesses as to what this connector should be connected to? It is had to imagine that there is a connector like this that isn't supposed to be connected to something!
