Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

I've done steady state and mixed driving for a couple hundred miles and still not ready for the OBD check part of the emissions test (sniff came back as very clean)
Leading evidence: 'Clean )' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean )' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm considering purchasing a 996 Porsche located out of state. The seller bought the car equipped with a Billy Boat exhaust system, including headers. The seller believes the car retains its original catalytic converters.
Given California's strict emissions standards, I'm concerned about the vehicle's smog compliance. While it's challenging to definitively determine the presence of stock catalytic converters from a photo, are there any reliable methods to verify this before purchasing? Im going to order PPI, but I am afraid that wont help me determine if these are stock cats.
Here I found a pic of what stock should look like. On the one in question the dimples look further apart and the cat shape is different. Do you see what I see?
Yes, I see what you see.
I have stock cats on my car (as far as I know) and they look like those in the first photo, with the dimples spread apart.
Those cats dont look like the common aftermarket high-flow cats, too (which dont usually feature a dimple).
The difference in dimple distance is probably attributed to manufacturing years. Thats just my assumption, but I cant think of any other reason why theyd be different.
There will be part #'s on the cats to identify them...The Inspector will look for them if he suspects they are not Carb Approved...The aftermarkets ones that are CARB Approved will have an Approval tag/number on it..
Those look like original to me...
Nope, no codes...OBD test shows cats not ready. I've done steady state and mixed driving for a couple hundred miles and still not ready for the OBD check part of the emissions test (sniff came back as very clean)
Just needs more driving/idling.....
If you had a PIWIS it has a program to force the OBD Readiness Tests to run quickly while still in the shop..........Professional Technicians don't have time/get paid for all the driving at different speeds.....lol
