The last time I remember checking the coolant level was after preventatively replacing the water pump and the expansion tank (genuine Porsche part), which was some 9 months/10k km ago.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 99 996 tip with about 105k km on it. Recently noticed that my coolant level was quite low - no other issues with temperature, no lights on the dash. AOS was preventatively replaced about 2 weeks ago. The last time I remember checking the coolant level was after preventatively replacing the water pump and the expansion tank (genuine Porsche part), which was some 9 months/10k km ago. After a coolant flush at that time the level was sitting just above the minimum line when cold. Checked that the coolant tank cap is the updated one ending in .04. No residues around the cap. Hard to tell if there are any dry coolant leak spots on my garage floor, due to the road salt this winter also staining the garage. Had my shop do a cold pressure test - no leaks after 3 hours. Keeping my fingers crossed that maybe the car just had to be burped a bit more after recent service, but wanted to know if theres anything else I should look for in the worst case scenario. Is it possible that air bubbles after AOS service would cause this much of a drop in coolant level? What would be some symptoms of a cracked head? There's no oil in my coolant, and oil appeared normal when checked on the dipstick. Nothing milkshake looking there. Is it possible to have a normal pressure test with a hairline crack in the head? Much thanks in advance.
