Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

At the dealership on the weekend and was shown a new classic oil range that was just released for the 996/986 - 5w50 which is an interesting weight - check it out:

POST 2Original post

A 5w50 for our cars already existed. Mobil1 5w50 Mobil1 5w50 is not just the 5w50 variant of the Mobil1 0w40, which has a additive package which changed over time considerably, not always for the good. The Mobil 1 5w50 should still be more packed with good dopes. Nice to see there come more alternatieve. A w50 viscosity is an interesting option as it will have improved film strength in hotter environment. And it is just the 996/997 which have a tendency to run very hot locally in the engine.

Wonder if they will use it for my next service!
