Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have an 03 911 with a passenger window issue. When either the inside or outside door handle is activated the window only drops down half the distance it should. when the door is then closed it hits the edge of the roof. It then goes back to the top position. What could cause this? The micro switch seems to work for both handles, but i need to physically push the window down slightly for the door to close without hitting the roof. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You, Scott

POST 2Original post

There are adjusters in the door. There are two rubber plugs at the bottom of the door (underneath - not on the face obviously), and there are also two clamps that hold the glass that can be used to make slight adjustments - unfortunately you'll have to remove the inner door panel to get to these - kind of a pain in the butt but not horrible. I just replaced my passenger side window regulator so I'm somewhat familiar with the procedure. I would start with the bottom adjusters and see if you can get it worked out that way. Go to The Pelican Parts site and look in their 996 tech articles section for window regulator replacement. I don't remember the exact tool offhand - could be a Torx or small Metric socket (5 - 8mm iirc). Good Luck

POST 3Original post

Given the fact the window drops means the microswitch is working. It is your window regulator. Well documented repair. My two cents... See window regulator here - https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...ssues-etc.html

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the responses. Kind of what i figured, the regulator is probably worn which would be why i can push it down into position to the close the door. Man i hate taking doors apart!

POST 5Original post

Yeah... It's very straight forward though. My local dealer actually broke mine, then refused to fix it (worked fine when I dropped the car off for an alignment...then they called me up saying it was "making noise"...) so I wound up doing it myself
