Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

31 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is it wrong to put an aftermarket 997 front bumper cover onto an Arctic Silver 1999 996? I would not be putting side rockers on with this. Or should I add a GT3 front bumper cover and side rockers?

POST 2Original post

Definitely Ricer if you leave it red. Otherwise, go for it!

POST 3Original post

I have been wanting a facelift for mine as well, but was worried about it being to ricer. I have seen a few that look good in pics, but am hesitant to pull the trigger. Never know fit and finish, or how muchnwork ot took to get it to the fit in the pics

POST 4Original post

Try GT3Tek. Their products are high quality and they have some great photos on their site.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As LastMezger said on Rennlist Canada "I don't think it's a great aesthetic fit with the 996. 996s are pretty little cars with smooth surfacing. This, IMO, is at odds with the overall design surfacing / language of the car. If you like this I'd suggest a 996GT3 bumper which is subtly more aggressive but harmonious with the design intent of the car." As well I think I would to go all the way and get a wing and rockers to pull it off properly. Therefore, going GT3 aero kit instead.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yikes! I was worried about being seen as an old guy (not that old) trying to be a 16 year old with the 997 bumper option. In fact I am not even fully sold on the taco wing? I may just go for the front bumper cover and rockers.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What do you think? Is the taco wing a mid-life crisis thing?

POST 9Original post

Guys that have the taco wing seem to grow fond of it... guys that don't have it seem to loathe it.

Tempting. What would shipping be to Upstate New York? 13640

POST 12Original post

In the end, you do what you like and not worry about what others think...it's your car!

We got ours around 25. 15 years in I sure as hell hope that wasn't midlife for myself or my wife (her car)... 15 years in and it still looks good too. Damn sight better than me anyway

You can never have too much taco.

I like this red one

POST 16Original post

Speaking of red body kits, I'm thinking of ordering this one, or is it too subtle?

POST 17Original post

Quotes source posts: 13846748, 13846845

Everybody likes the red ones. You can never have too much red.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Love it. Where can I find it? That's a wing.

POST 19Original post

That is to fricken funny! Sale ends tomorrow. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...m-gt3-tek.html

POST 20Original post

The only opinion that matters is yours. If you like it go for it. 996s are not collector cars and probably never will be unless it's a low mileage mint condition original car, in the year 2050.

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 13846090

Agreed. I can't stand the wing...

POST 22Original post

That's *not* a wing, this is a wing.... (and, good news for KC, it's guards red.)

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

How would I get that into my garage?

POST 24Original post

Quotes source post: 13848144

And it looks good with the pink. Aww, hell, red looks good with anything. Am I right?

POST 25Original post

Quotes source post: 13848153

three options: 1. car half in, half out 2. specially engineered removal option. Use a common 1/2" wrench to remove the 8 trunk bolts, and the wing slides off easily. Wing can then be used as a work bench or cat house whichever you prefer. 3. Build a bigger garage.

POST 26Original post

I just threw on the GT3tek front lip.... It will be painted in the near future

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you for the picture. That is essentially my car. Same rims as well. Good to see what it may look like. Did you consider the GT3 tek GT3 side rockers? How does the lip fit? Any concerns about the shipping method?

POST 28Original post

An aero 996 is a truly beautiful car - even mine, with the "wrong" wing (MKII aero on my MK1 996) looks amazing. The aerokit adds so much to the 996's looks. Leasing a new 911, enrolling in Hair Club for Men, and becoming a sugar daddy to a young lady who is old enough to vote but not quite old enough to buy liquor are all earmarks of a midlife crisis. Wanting to make your 996 even better looking than it already is...that's not a crisis. That's just good thinkin'. Here's my "wrong" car - I will never change it. I think it's perfect.

Umm, correction... with the exception of having to replace the wheels due to combing your mullet and making smoochy faces while driving. (snicker) Where is the *new* picture with the turbo twist wheels?
