Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have an indi who is going to perform a 'smoke test' on the evap system for me in an effort to solve my problems but that is not until the 9th Jan.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a CEL on the car and my OBD11 reader says I have Generic DTC definitions PO102 (MAF or VAF A circuit low input). Also PO446 (EVAP Emission Control System Circuit Vent circuit Malf). Can anyone speaking in laymans terms point me to a way to solve my problems. BTW I have sprayed the MAF sensor liberally with MAF sensor liquid. The CEL is out right now but I am fully expecting it to return within the next 100 miles or so. I have an indi who is going to perform a 'smoke test' on the evap system for me in an effort to solve my problems but that is not until the 9th Jan. Is there anything you DIY men can advice me on that I can be doing in the mean time? In other words, what would you do? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

P0102 - do exactly what you did, clean the MAF sensor and reset the code(s)....see if it comes back. Not the end of the world but might have to order a replacement. P0446 - evap system vent valve malfunction. Check the o-ring on your gas cap and make sure it is secure. Otherwise, might have a vacuum leak somewhere and those are difficult to find. Smoke test is the best way. Or could be a bad vent valve. See here https://www.obd-codes.com/p0446
