Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone know if this engine will swap into a 996.2 chassis and still be able to use the 996.2 DME? I read that this was the first year the Boxster got the Variocam technology. Just curious if it can be swapped into a 996.2 with minimal effort. Is this longblock essentially a destroked 996.2 M96 engine?

POST 2Original post

Yes, you can do the swap and use the 996.2 DME. There are differences in the front mount, oil pump console and intake manifolds. There are also differences in the crank case ventilation set up, but you can swap over the parts from the original 996 engine onto the Cayman engine and it will work. Cheers
