Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm amazed that the 996 is so workable especially for a beginner like me. I thought this might have been too much for my skills but figured why not try. 4 hours later and I finally finished.
The Numeric shifter is really great and I definitely notice the difference. Probable too much for me but the Numeric was a Christmas gift to myself.
The GT3 console delete is a little expensive but I have to say I love it. The look and the functionality are worth it to me. I'm 6' 2" and the extra leg space is great. Really happy I did this.
Pics below but I have a few questions:
1. The shifting is much better but downshifting and going into reverse is more difficult than going up. Does this mean I need to adjust the cables?
2. Is there any lubrication that is needed for the shifter? I didn't see any on the instructions but it just seems like a little grease somewhere might be good.
3. Will changing the shifter cables help even more?
Thanks for any help.
Funny. I think my reasoning for the console delete being "expensive" in my mind is that the kit seems like 3 small pieces of plywood covered with carpet and a small plastic cover. For $200+ it just seemed like a lot. But I still love it.
The Numeric was certainly more costly but somehow I justified the cost more easily.
I had the standard 996 shifter. I hear the 997 version is much better than the 996 version. I probably shouldn't have gone with Numeric, but people seem to love it so I wanted to try it. YOLO.
I have the Numeric in my 997 that I swapped out from stock. I am going to take the Numeric out of the 997 and put it into the 996, then the stock 997 back into the 997.
I'll say this - the 997 stock shifter is WORLDS apart from the slop of the 996 - and it's another significant upgrade to the Numeric. I just don't see needing the Numeric on a street car.
The one thing that I have noticed with the Numeric is that it has developed some slop while in gear - not much - maybe 1/2" or less side to side. I have reached out to them with no luck though....
