I ended up with Conti DW tires and use my Chevy SS as my winter DD.

Bought my first 911 finally, an 04 C4S that I want to drive daily but who knew that you can't get performance winter tires in Northern New Jersey during this particular winter?
Any suggestions for me?
How about Conti DWS all season performance tires? Unfortunately they were not available in my stock 02 C2 18" rear size but maybe you can get them. If not Conti, Michelin also makes a great all season performance tire. Should be good for NJ with all wheel drive.
I tried everyone I could think of, including Tirerack, and nobody has anything available for my stock 18" wheels. A single exception, one tire supplier did have 265 rears but when I asked for the manufacturing date codes, before I purchased, they ended up being 7 year old tires so I passed on them of course.
Look at the conti DWS 265/35/18 for rear the 225/40/18 are available for front. Great tires have them on for a while now. A little narrower on the rear but they drive great.
Did the Craigslist thing but anything available in the tri-state area turns out to be old stock. I know about the need to go to a 18 x 10 rear wheels and that's no problem both from an availability perspective and a "want to do" perspective. I think it's a no-brainer to have dedicated winter wheels to go along with dedicated winter tires. Keeping the car in the garage until the bears come out of hibernation is not going to work for me but not because I have to drive my 996 through the winter...it's because I just got to.
