That would suck as I recently changed the fluid.....

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've got a major case of "while you're in there" and am now replacing the clutch, pressure plate, and clutch fork along with the new flywheel. The fork is now a superceded 997 part (mine is an old 996 version) and apparently changing to this new fork requires a new ball pivot (and a few other items). My big question is this: will transmission fluid dump out when I unscrew the ball pivot to install the new one? That would suck as I recently changed the fluid.....

POST 3Original post

No worries. The pivot bolts onto a blind hole in the casing.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have an old version of the Porsche 996 workshop manual and it says to NOT place grease on the throwout bearing guide shaft. Still true? The manual also states to place the 3EP grease on the ball pivot joint of the clutch fork, but this manual edition was prior to the superceded 997 clutch fork. Should one still place grease on both the ball pivot as well as the tip of the slave cylinder?
