The previous owner apparently installed halogen bulbs in the old units that were too intense and they yellowed the plastic.

I will add that the drivers side fender was replaced when the previous owner dented it on a sign post, so that may be the reason the new LED headlight was sticking out slightly and the tray requires some modification.

Much easier now to get both hands in to replace the lights.

I bought these LED headlights off eBay a few weeks ago, but it rained every weekend I was home until today, so I hadn't gotten the chance to install them. Today I test fit the new LED headlights thattare replacing hat old fried egg units. The previous owner apparently installed halogen bulbs in the old units that were too intense and they yellowed the plastic.
I know my car is dirty, covered in pollin, and the front bumper is slightly misalligned on the driversd side.
The new units didn't seat perfectly, so I attempted to make some adjustments. When it got the unit on the driver's side adjusted, it wasn't making a good connection with the plug. I got on eBay and purchased the cheapest headlight tray and I plan on cutting the tower off that holds the plug so I can plug it in directly. I don't know why Porsche didn't do it this way in the first place. They made it more complicated than it had to be.
I will take some better pictures without the glare. The lights look great. I will also take picks of what am doing to get the headlights seated and plugged in correctly. interesting, i've seen these recently on ebay and have considered it. any more pics from other angles and w/the lights on? how's the brightness compared to the halogens?
when I had the headlights out, I simply snapped off the blue plastic which holds the bulb in place both sides. Much easier now to get both hands in to replace the lights. As far as posting from my phone. I simply send the photo to my email, then save it in my files then post when I get home. BTW the new lights look impressive. Well done.
Although some might say it looks a tad ricey, its night and day difference in how modern it looks. I like it. Interested in seeing other pictures from other angles, and not so close up of the car.
I have factory HIDs, so I am not going to do it, but I would consider it if I had halogens.
Congrats on the upgrade. I saw these headlights on this 996 at The Festival of Speed in Fontana this weekend. It looked like an led retrofit to me. The halogens on my 99' cab suck.
I planned on doing the modifications to the headlight trays this weekend to get a better electrical connection at the plug. Instead, I worked on cleaning out my garage at a former rental house. It will give me a place to work on cars indoors again. Looks like I will need it this coming weekend since there is a 70 or 80 percent chance of rain all weekend.
Correct. They were approximately $1000. I currently have the old fried eggs back in since I am tracking the car. No point in potentially damaging the new ones.
