Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

* 235 upfront would be okay (same size as the MK2 GT3 uses) not sure if you'd want to go narrower (265 vs 285) in the rear though?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My OEM tires are 225/40 18 and 285/30 18. Can I use the 997 spec tires of 235/40 18 and 265/40 18? Cheaper and more sidewalk in rear.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Rear wheel drive. Carrera 2.

POST 4Original post

I * think * 235 upfront would be okay (same size as the MK2 GT3 uses) not sure if you'd want to go narrower (265 vs 285) in the rear though? Also depends on what rims you have

POST 5Original post

I am definitely partial to 285 or 295 in the rear. both of which fit in a C2 with proper offset.

POST 6Original post

Front is no problem. Rear may fit, but will have a 6% larger rolling radius, which will make your speedo inaccurate. You'd need a 265/35, but then you'd get no side wall increase vs a 285/30.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks all. Very helpful. Ill stay with the OEM sizes.

POST 8Original post

Late to the party, but those are the sizes on my 99 C2 (235/40/18 and 265/40/18), albeit on a set of Cayman wheels. They will fit.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good to know, thanks Ovaltine. Wheels should be same width. I'll check.
