Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

30 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Darn, it worked for me just the other day.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I have a 2000 Cab that I believe is Rain Forrest Green. The under hood sticker is missing and I want to make sure I order the correct touchup paint. Where else can I get the paint code?

POST 2Original post

You can look it up by VIN. I'll look for the site and post it shortly.

POST 3Original post

https://rennlist.com/forums/vindecoder.php Put in your VIN and it will tell you the exterior color

POST 4Original post

Use: https://admin.porschedealer.com/repo...print.php?vin= Put your VIN (In CAPS) at the end of the URL

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

DBJoe996 - The reenlist decoder doesn't list a color for my car. When you run the decode it just shows all of the standard color options. TexSquirrel - The link you gave just gives me "admin.porschedealer.com is undergoing a period of planned downtime for maintenance and testing." I'll try again later but still no luck. My VIN is WP0CA2999YS653417 if someone has an idea. Thanks for the help!

POST 6Original post

A copy of the sticker under the hood is somewhere in the owners manual books. Mine was on the inside of one of the covers.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Unfortunately there isn't a sticker in my manual either. Maybe it was replaced? or the sticker lost?

POST 8Original post

Darn, it worked for me just the other day. Keep trying, when it does work, it gives you all the options including the exterior color code. Also check inside your fuel door, it could be there. Some years had it there, but I don't know whether any 996 did.

POST 9Original post

Try this site, it gave me all my options including color codes: http://porsche.databatrix.com/

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

texcwa - When I put my VIN into that site I get this error "Data column(s) for axis #0 cannot be of type string" I'm starting to think my VIN is jinxed.

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 15196075

Try using the number zero (0) not a capitol O

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I believe it was already a zero but I tried changing it anyway and got the same error.

POST 13Original post

If you want me to try it and you don't feel comfortable listing your vin for all to see, send me a private message

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Look at the fifth message in the thread. I listed my VIN there.

POST 15Original post

I tried yours both ways also and no luck, double check your vin number. Here is mine and you can try it and see the info it provides WP0AA29914S622681

POST 16Original post

Check your vin, you have a Y where I have another number in that run,

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I checked. Here is a picture of my VIN.

POST 18Original post

I entered the VIN of the 2000 ME 911 that I am looking at and I got the same error as JHall. Also the rennlist.com VIN Decoder just gives me the year and general specs.

POST 19Original post

jhall, did you try my vin? did it work? Not sure what's happening, good luck.

POST 20Original post

What about under the frunk carpet? There should be a sticker on the rail

POST 21Original post

About the only other thing I can think of is to get the COA from PCA. I think it runs like $25 https://www.pca.org/resource/porsche...thenticity-coa Or have a Porsche dealer run your VIN for specifications

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 15196243

+1 look under the carpet in the front trunk, on the drivers side on US cars, there should be a decal on the front "frame rail"/crumple zone part of the unibody with the paint name and code. This site seems to be under maintenance, but I've been able to see build sheets using this: https://admin.porschedealer.com/repo...CA2999YS653417 or "https://admin.porschedealer.com/reports/build_sheets/print.php?vin=WP0CA2999YS653417 " (without the quotes).

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

dan_189 - You were correct there was a label under the front carpet. Here is a pic of the label. Can anyone tell me what represents the paint code on the label?

POST 24Original post

J4 - Rainforest Green Pearl - metallic (Adrian Streather's book says this code is the catalog color code) It also shows up some places as 2A1/J4 DSCHUNGELGRUEN PEARL WBL is water based paint (again from Adrian Streather's book).

POST 25Original post

Got to be one of these when I used the VIN Decoder on your VIN again, and based on the label

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone, I think I have what I need now to go shopping for some two stage paint.

POST 27Original post

They list a J4 touchup paint (I don't know what the V2 through V9 is for) http://www.automotivetouchup.com/tou...00/all-models/

POST 28Original post

V2 through V9 are color variations. There are paint samples available to paint shops that can be used to get a closer match. That is why in some of the photos of my car, my headlight covers are slightly different. My headlight covers have more blue in them. They're the correct color, but not the correct variation. Its not noticeable unless it is in full direct sunlight. I plan to have that "fixed" one of these days.

POST 29Original post

I found this for J4 From here: http://howtoporsche.com/all-models-i...by-year/#GREEN

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
