Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Five years ago when I bought my current 2002 C4S, it had PSS9s installed two owners prior.
Leading evidence: 'Install two owners prior' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check before you start' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I swapped factory M030 for PSS9 on my last 996 and the difference was stunning.

Might be worth double checking before you start replacing them.

Suggestion
Since I don't track the car, the softest setting of 9 is still plenty tight for the street, but not bone jarringly stiff.

I doubt if you can get much, if anything for used/raced shocks.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello everyone, I recently bought a 99 coupe with Bilstein PSS9 suspension. The car was a track/street car. It's now my DD. The suspension is truly awesome but too stiff for my daily commute. It was installed in 2003 at 46k miles now the car has 95k. How much could I sell the whole package for if I wanted to go back to stock suspension? I'm located in SoCal and would consider swapping with another car's suspension.
Thanks
I doubt if you can get much, if anything for used/raced shocks. What about keeping that suspension, but changing to softer springs. I don't know if that set-up is adjustable, but if you can go full soft, it might give you the best of both worlds.
In So Cal there are a number of really good performance shops that could get you what you want out of that set-up.
I can almost guarantee you will regret doing this. PSS9 is not only light years ahead in terms of handling but rides much smoother than the stock setup.
Thanks for the responses guys. I spoke with previous owner and found out that a few years after the PSS9 install, he went with even stiffer springs (about 15% stiffer per his memory). So maybe if I went with softer springs and kept the shocks? I see many sets of springs being sold on eBay, but how do I know if they fit the PSS9 set-up?
Have you tried dialing back each shock to its softest setting, which is 9 on PSS9s? This is the opposite of the PSS10 where the higher the number the harder the setting. Some people don't seem to know that.
Five years ago when I bought my current 2002 C4S, it had PSS9s installed two owners prior. The guy I bought the car from told me he had set them at the softest setting and it was too stiff for him. When I looked at each shock they were all set to 1, the hardest setting! Since I don't track the car, the softest setting of 9 is still plenty tight for the street, but not bone jarringly stiff. Might be worth double checking before you start replacing them. Good luck!
As others have said, the higher number is softer.
A few things:
1. Bilstein will rebuild/revalve any way you want, for relatively little $.
2. The going rate for a used set of unknown condition is $1k to sell.
3. Setting these up the way you want will ride AND handle better than any factory option. I swapped factory M030 for PSS9 on my last 996 and the difference was stunning. Much more smooth/supple and much better handling/control.
I was luck enough to find a 996tt that already has PSS9's and will never change. My car is 75% street (commute and wine country trips)/25% track. I've just entered the second half of my 40's and have no patience for modded cars that one has to make excuses for. I ruined lots of cars in my 20's and thirties learning this. It was very expensive.
Other than KW, and some really esoteric track stuff, there's no better suspension available for your car (especially considering your street focus.)
Update: I had them removed, now my daily driver is much smoother (but at the cost of handling & steering response). Anyway, I would sell them for $300 if anyone in OC is interested. I believe Bilstein can re-valve these.

Larry, I prefer to keep it local for now but if I decide to ship. You're 1st in line.
Thanks
