Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Old-school SRS used bumper- or radiator-mounted "crash sensors." Current-generation systems use digital accelerometers that are often integrated into the airbag control monitor.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello my RL brethren! Gotta quick question... Can anyone point me to the airbag sensors on the front of my car? (see image) Thank you!!!!!

POST 2Original post

B3, this is what I could find if it helps any.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks man! But aren't there sensor on the front of the car?

POST 5Original post

Old-school SRS used bumper- or radiator-mounted "crash sensors." Current-generation systems use digital accelerometers that are often integrated into the airbag control monitor. Some advanced airbag inflators are multi-stage or variable output, so you need a sensor that provides a data stream rather than a single-use one-and-done crash sensor.

POST 6Original post

There are a minimum of three sensors in the car(third gen SRS). Almost surely there is a sensor in the airbag triggering and control unit. There is a multi-axis, multi-trigger unit on each side of the car, often near the base/midpoint of the B pillar(our cars would be just behind the door latch). For an airbag to deploy there must be a quorum of sensor activations to deploy the airbag. Not something to mess with if you aren't skilled at airbag systems. I haven't worked on them since the first gen, and I won't touch one of the later units. Older unit front mounted sensors were at the base of the A pillar for Porsche, MB, Opel, Renault, Lotus, and a few others.
