Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Most likely overkill but I had it on hand, checked the box all good with plastic - made sure not to get it on the lens section.
Leading evidence: 'Check box all good' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'glue has lost its strength' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check box all good' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

My only thoughts are that the epoxy I used doesnt hold up over 80 degrees according to the box.

I've used some epoxy to reglue the lense to the frame.

In other news I used some Meguires PlastiX to refresh my spare set - came out quite nicely.

Or more likely the glue has lost its strength because they are clipped and also glued onto the housing.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey all,
Got a new (to me) tail light set which have a manufacturing stamp of 2009.
Right side fits perfectly, left side not so much??
Any ideas? I bought all new parts for both mounting points - old light fits too deep new light sits too far out
help please!
The only solution I can think of is cutting the channel for the mounting point further in so the light sits further into the inner bracket?
Car is a RoW 2004 C2.
Ah sorry left everyone hanging!
I ended up pulling out a little bit of the adhesive and pushed it back into place. The clip went back into the housing
I'll post some pics tomorrow
So just an update, installed this morning and it immediately popped back out.
I've used some epoxy to reglue the lense to the frame. Have to wait 24-72 hours for it to set!
What an adventure
"...popped back out..." HHHMMM...I would ask why. Is the light box or lense warped? Just dumb questions as I have never dealt with a separated taillight assembly.
My guess is a combination of things, manufacturing stamp of 2009 making them 9 years old, being exposed to the sun and external conditions etc etc.
Or more likely the glue has lost its strength because they are clipped and also glued onto the housing.
I've used some epoxy to hold the lens back in place, this is an unusual scenario. I'll report back once I've installed it.
Thanks everyone!
As I though it might be exposed to some extreme conditions I used 150kg Sellys epoxy that takes 24-72 hrs to cure.
Most likely overkill but I had it on hand, checked the box all good with plastic - made sure not to get it on the lens section.
For those that are interested this is the product I used:
http://www.selleys.com.au/adhesives/...uper-strength/
Its probably overkill, but its water resistant (it may get wet with washing) and primarily I wanted a fix that would last.
So update, installed on the weekend and was all good, or so I thought!
Full day of driving and the epoxy didnt hold up and popped back out
now looking into some plastic specific epoxy which will hopefully hold up!
My only thoughts are that the epoxy I used doesnt hold up over 80 degrees according to the box.
It did cross my mind that it would get hot in that spot as its above the mufflers, or I didnt use enough. I think the heat was the biggest factor.
Correct! Come on guys get with the metric system already!
So I'm not sure which way to repair this, either plastic super glue, plastic epoxy or this automotive sealant:
https://www.bunnings.com.au/sika-150ml-white-sikaflex-227-auto-and-construction-sealant_p1210291
The original glue seems like a sticky sealant rather than a glue? I it has a flexible component to it.
Sorry guys was a bit slack updating everyone!
So I cleaned up all the dud epoxy, I either didn't use enough or mode likely its so hot above the muffler it gave out at 80 degrees (C) as the box suggests it would
I've just finished re-gluing it with Loctite standard superglue, I've got a group drive on the 20th of May so that will be the tell if it holds.
In the meantime I bought another set of tail lights but they don't have the clarity this set does so fingers crossed this new superglue fix actually lasts!!
There was a specific Loctite plastic superglue but it has an activator and a glue and I didn't really have the surface area to apply both, that will be the final solution to try if this doesn't hold.
Ugh why does everything 996 test my patience!! Haha
So I finally got around to fitting them!
Seems to he holding fine for now! Time will tell.
In other news I used some Meguires PlastiX to refresh my spare set - came out quite nicely.
Wasn't keen wet sanding and polishing as they weren't that bad. I also wanted to retain the original markings in the bottom right/left of each light.
