I had the IMS replaced about 6k miles ago and was told the clutch was essentially new then.
Leading evidence: 'Replace ims' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check pedal linkage ......after' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Good that you found it, I had similar symptoms and replaced both the master and slave clutch cylinders.

Suggestion
you could try a good flush if it has not been done in a long while and check the pedal linkage ......after that it gets expensive and ugly
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yesterday I noticed that the clutch would not fully return to the normal height- to the point that it stuck to the floor twice, I was about 20 minutes for home and luckily was able to lift it back up with my toes... then it would work again for a little while. It works OK with quick shifts, but if the clutch needs to be used to back out of my steep driveway it happens again. I had the IMS replaced about 6k miles ago and was told the clutch was essentially new then.
I don't want to throw money at it- wondering where to start as far as remedies. Again, at times it worked normally.
I figure either the slave cylinder or master cylinder from what I got from reading online. I need to take it in to my new (moved to Portland) mechanic and have them remove my H&R springs and put the stock ones back on. My driveway is too steep and every inch counts...
The suggestions on the slave or master cylinder and return spring are good suggestions, but if they don't seem to be the problem, I have had numerous symptoms like this that turn out to be loose pressure plate bolts.
The factory torque of 17ft/lbs is not enough in my book.
I advise to upgrade the m8 x 16mm pressure plate bolts from grade 8.8 to grade 10.9 and torque to 23 ft/lbs and a drop of blue loctite on the threads.
Start with looking at the pedal assembly. I've gotten a broken bracket in the past that didn't allow the pedal to come back up. Just had to break out the TIG and weld it up.
However, I'd lean more towards a leak in the lines going into the slave/master, or the internals on the slave/master themselves are starting to give way. If the clutch appeared in good shape, I don't think after 6k miles anything could happen internally without causing some decent damage / noise.
So, ended up changing out the clutch master cylinder- wasn't the problem- so I removed the front driver side tire, the wheel well liner and found that the clutch hydraulic line was pinched and was leaking. Now I am waiting for one to be shipped out (if anyone has one please let me know!!!). Shouldn't take long to put in once I have it.
Ya, about that.... we moved from So Cal to Portland and our new home has a steep drive way that goes down sharply then V's up into the garage. In order to get in and out safely I was adding gravel to the V'd area to flatten it out and every once in a while I would have the wife come out and let me know how much clearance I had while I crept along on the gravel. She was not clearly communicating the clearance..... So... I had her get in and the goal was for to slowly come down while I watched the clearance. She does not drive manuals. She mistook the clutch for the brake and came down the driveway quickly.... pushing the clutch as hard as she could... wondering why the brake wasn't working... and thumped into the steel pole that it set in front if the heater in the garage and bounced back almost out of the garage. She's OK. I think it bottomed out and pinched the line in the process. Needless to say- she is no longer allowed to get behind the wheel.... I don't see anything else that is wrong, it drive fine except after about 5 minutes the clutch felt funny, then started getting stuck.
