Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I want to reuse the three IMS flange bolts. Would Loctite 567 be a good replacement for the "microencapsulated" stuff that originally came on the IMS flange bolts?

POST 2Original post

"It's okay to reuse your old bolts, but be sure that you coat the threads in a sealant like Curil-T or Loctite prior to installation or they will leak. Tighten the bolts down to 8 ft-lbs (11 Nm)." This is from a Pelican write-up. I found 11-13 pound-feet on another IMS diy write-up, so I'd defer to your maintenance manual or your Bentley or Knowledge Gruppe book for the correct values.

It's been a few months now, but IIRC it's 10 ft.lbs. or 13 nm - per LNE/Knowledge Gruppe

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was more interested in the sealant to use, but Loctite 567 should work. Regarding torque, the instructions on the LN Engineering paperwork say: "...new micro-encapsulated bolts. Use flange sealant on bottom of head of the bolt. Torque specs 7.5 ft/lb (10 Nm)." http://lnengineering.com/files/IMSR-...arranty-2y.pdf - instruction 20. LN is sending me a set of new bolts.

POST 5Original post

Bolts are very cheap , getting new ones is good piece of mind .

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, agreed. However, my local Porsche dealer closed up shop, so there isn't any place convenient to grab little things. Everything is internet ordering and shipping. I didn't think to order these in any of the many large parts orders I've put in lately. LN is sending me new bolts. Shipping costs more than buying local, if I could.

POST 7Original post

The best places to buy bolts is at fastener suppliers , most cities have at least one . I've been restoring old motorcycles cars and sailboats for years , never had a bolt they couldn't supply at a much cheaper rate . I typically get a piece of card board with a hole punched in it for each nut and bolt set I need and I write on the cardboard how many of each , i just hand then the cardboard with the fasteners I need attached , they disappear in the back and com back with little bags of what I need . Search your yellow pages for fasteners
