Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I checked physically the intake tubing and connections, and tried inspecting the oil filler tube.
Leading evidence: 'Check physically the intake tubing and connections, and tried' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check physically the intake tubing and connections, and tried' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The engine computer needs to know what engine it is running with the right mapping.

I checked the test port with a rag and there is certainly pressure.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all
I've got a 2001 C4 cab with a 3.2 engine I recently swapped in. I drove it 15-20 miles after I got it running but then waited until I had the exhaust finished to drive more.
Now the exhaust is on and I went to start it and it fires up to 2000ish rpm and then dies. No codes are listed from my basic obdii app. If I press the gas pedal it will keep running. If I unplug the maf, it keeps running with huge rev swings and pinging(so I turned it off).
I have not reflashed the ecu yet but have heard from others that although it helps, its not absolutely necessary for boxster/996 swaps and it ran fine before I let it it sit.
Things I suspect
Vacuum leak to crankcase
Throttle issue
Other vacuum leak/secondary air issue
Old battery- I did have it charging and it reads 12 volts and goes higher when I start the car and give it gas
Fuse/electrics
Things I'm less wary of: Spark/fuel because it will run if I give it gas. I checked the test port with a rag and there is certainly pressure.
Anyone have recommendations about how to go about diagnosing other than parts darts?
You definitely need to tune the ECU to your new setup.
The engine computer needs to know what engine it is running with the right mapping.
Besides that, have you done a Throttle Body adaptation by keeping the key in the on position for 1 minute, and then starting the car?
Thanks all.
I checked physically the intake tubing and connections, and tried inspecting the oil filler tube. I don't see any cracks or problems. I didn't check the aos but it is new so it would need to have been an installation problem.
Coolant temperature sensor says the right temperature(I was thinking it was maybe reading high and going into closed loop right away).
I did the throttle reset.
fuel pressure registered 50psi, and I can hear it rushing if I jumper the fuel pump.
ive got a new MAF on order as the old one looked dirty(stuck with a KN air filter because I had to custom route the intake hose) but I'm thinking engine management could be a part of the issue(or at least magnifying it)
One thought I just had is that The fuel has been sitting in the car for about 6 months now...hmmmm. Could be part of the issue I suppose...
