First off we offer to share this C4S but with a lowered view, this may change the perspective on the issue by closing the gap it does present a whole new image (IMO).

I like the look of the sport classic "Fuchs" look, but didn't want to run 19's so designed something similar on a GT3 style rim.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2003 C4S, former garage queen now getting driven as Porsche intended. Installed some new custom finished GT3 replica wheels from Wheel Dynamics. 18x8.5 (et. 52) Rear 18x10 (et. 54), with a 17 mm rear spacer. I like the look of the sport classic "Fuchs" look, but didn't want to run 19's so designed something similar on a GT3 style rim. Car is getting H&R lowering springs and Bilstein B8's next week, so that should improve the current Paris-Dakar 4x4 ride height. Wheels are great, just not sure they work with a wide body car, and Polar silver. Turbo Twists or these wheels ??

POST 2Original post

i'm a big fan of the turbo twists - love the look. IMO those aftermarket black wheels take away from the cars overall stance and the fender gaps look pretty sad especially the front - if they were 19" they might look better

POST 3Original post

I think the new wheels look bad@ss but it's all a matter of taste. Groove is right though, if looks is your thing, you need to take of the gap upfront when you lower it.

POST 4Original post

I personally love Turbo Twist IIs on widebody cars. I also like Sport Technos, they're a bit more unique but still with a similar visual theme. I think with a ride height adjustment, the GT3 replicas should look fine.

POST 5Original post

I like the turbos twists better. Great looking car and great story in your other thread. Cheers!

POST 6Original post

Turbo twists, of course, I'm one of those "leave it original guys"...right down to the pumpkins

POST 7Original post

I much prefer the new wheels (I thing they look fantastic and will only look better when you get the suspension calibrated as you have indicated), though I have never been a fan of Porsche twists (any variety). I suppose twists are something of the iconic 996 wheel, but, in a corresponding fashion, they also date the car's look to the early 2000's (somehow, especially on a silver car). Perhaps they overly reinforce the 911's rounded shape to my eye, but to others, that might be part of the appeal. That said, the contrasting silver hues of those Sport Techno rims and the Polar Silver clashes a bit more than would result with an Arctic Silver car color (at least as they appear in your third photo).

I'm torn about the turbo twists on my car as well. I like them, just not in love with them. I think a bit more "bling" is needed. I really like the black with chrome rim.

POST 9Original post

While I'm not a huge fan of the twists, I'm even less of a fan of the black/silver wheel combo. Twists may scream "early 00's Porsche," but the black/silver combo is very 80's to me. Color the lip black and call it good!

POST 11Original post

Stick with the turbo twists, black wheels are so played out... really they are.

POST 14Original post

It's a very subjective thing. I think that the silver/polished lip makes the black wheels work. Solid black wheels don't do it for me.

Not common to see Twist II's on a narrow-body car, I'm a fan! There's a set of NB Twist II's for sale locally that are tempting me. I feel like the original 993/996.1 Twists really date the 996, though they look great on 964 and 993s. Twist II's are a good fit for the time period, pretty complementary of the overall design. But they're definitely subtle, not a style that draws visual attention.

POST 17Original post

I suppose the question is what do you like? Personally I don't like twists or chrome on wheels. My favs are the Speedline wheels from the 993 Targa, but hat dates me. If interested I have a set of 997TT rims with MPSS in 19" that I picked up after getting my C4S that I think are too "harsh" for my wife's taste. The car came with Techno-twists and I have acquired a set of Kinesis K18's in 18" that I need to get on the car.

POST 18Original post

Who don't you look at plastidipping your new wheels a gun metal gray / anthracite color to tone down the contrast a bit? Cost you about $40 and is very easy to do and reverse. Once you lower your car, you may need to consider spacers to get the wheels to line up correctly. While my car is a NB I needed to 15mm on all four corners to get the desired look.

POST 19Original post

I traded my twists for skinny 5-spoke.... and after looking at your guys pictures I am realizing how badly I need side skirts

POST 20Original post

Anything you like but don't fall for the 19" hype...the cod piece of wheels.

POST 22Original post

Looks sharp to me, as is.

POST 23Original post

Another issue to consider with black wheels is the time you have to invest bringing them to all the Black Lives Matter protests.

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Lot's of good responses here and a little comedy... I put the Twists back on this weekend, and will be getting the car lowered later in the week. I'm going to stick with stock. In the meantime, if the GT3 replica wheel with this design is your thing, they are for sale!! I'll have an ad up later tonight. Paid $3519 before shipping, including 17 mm spacers, black lug bolts, center caps etc. Tires/rims have 40 miles on them. Still new. $2995 complete, or $1995 without tires + shipping.

POST 25Original post

TYPE: Great Choice! That's what I would have done!

[QUOTE=Vdubjetta02;13227362]I traded my twists for skinny 5-spoke.... and after looking at your guys pictures I am realizing how badly I need side skirts[QUOTE] Your car is sharp the way it is... IMHO, the side skirts complement the car best when you match it with the AERO front bumper or the Turbo front bumper. Unlike the C4S, Turbo, etc... the standard 996 Carreras have a nice slight rounded look around the bottom which is very unique to the car like the center reflector is to the C4S. Cheers!

POST 28Original post

First off we offer to share this C4S but with a lowered view, this may change the perspective on the issue by closing the gap it does present a whole new image (IMO). An other option is a Twist with a Twist... Just chiming in some ideas..

POST 29Original post

That first one, lowered with the black GT3 reps, is fiiiiine.

POST 30Original post

Original FTW I feel like the car was designed as a package and your original rims look great IMO Previous owner put 997 rims on my car, cant wait to get my hands on some originals!
