They'd rather run conventional radar and move their location.

I have friends that are cops and most of them don't like running laser because they have to be stationary and they all know that people with apps are communicating their locations.

There's a large community of users that provide immediate updates where cops are running radar and laser.

It's a different way of knowing where the cops are running speed checks.

The older jamming systems have a built-in lookup table to quickly identify the type of Lidar and then jam the signal, but new systems like the Dragon, use random pulse patterns which makes it impossible for the old jammers to "see" the newer signals.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Most of the time that it makes noise, its not a cop lol but I have found a few occasions that it worked.
Hi Guys,
Just bought a 2003 996TT x50 and I notice there is a strange sensor on the bumper and I think its related to these two lights on the dash.
Does anyone know anything about these devices? The previous owner had no idea what they were.

A closer look at the objects in the front grille would help. Could be laser jammers.
There's also a **** or button by the driver's right knee that isn't stock - since that carpet panel pops off, pop it off and see what's hiding back there.
If it helps, the car is going into the shop for 2 new front tires, an oil change, and probably at least 1 wheel bearing. So I will be welcomed to the elite Porsche repair bill club shortly.
Lol, this is nothing. Come back when you've spent either additional $20k in modded parts and/or repairs.
Welcome.
Based on the red areas of the box, it looks like a laser jammer to me. That's my guess at least.
Any other shots of the car?
Full album is here.

So far I know the car has a GICA tune (not sure which or how old), ems air cleaner, headers, and full exhaust done. Pulls nicely but hard to say for sure until I get the dry rot front tires replaced.
The more I look at it, I think this is a K40 system, the **** and whats behind the panel will tell all tonight.
I had to disable laser on my detector - the damn Audis are everywhere. Thankfully, many CA LEO are still too lazy to get out of the car, so KA is still really useful.
Spot on, 2000 series, there are sensors behind the bumper and the item on the bumper is a diffuser. The system is older than dirt, I'll probably pull it out one weekend and replace it with a mirror mount v1.
One sensor is bad so the system is useless.

I have the exact same system on my car. K40 radar detector with the laser jammer (two sensors, 1F 1B).. Most of the time that it makes noise, its not a cop lol but I have found a few occasions that it worked.
If your system is more than 5 years old, then it probably won't read and jam the newer Lidar guns such as the Dragoneye (
http://dragoneyetech.com/
) which is manufactured just down the road from me. The older jamming systems have a built-in lookup table to quickly identify the type of Lidar and then jam the signal, but new systems like the Dragon, use random pulse patterns which makes it impossible for the old jammers to "see" the newer signals.
My advice would be to get a good all around radar detector like the Escort Max2 or 360 which offers direct connection via BlueTooth to your phone's app called Escort Live. It's a different way of knowing where the cops are running speed checks. There's a large community of users that provide immediate updates where cops are running radar and laser.
