Maybe I don't get it.... but I don't understand why you're running massive track tires on a car that does backroads now and again. You can never go fast enough on the street to work those tires. On the street those tires are harder to manage and you lose any rain traction.
I run those tires on the track, with
lots more camber
(and more heat). Cold track tires isn't the set-up for street.
I've blown a rear nto1 also. They'll pick up road debris quite easily. Great tire for track day not so great on the street. dangerous in the rain when tread is depleted. Ive switched to ad08r, still sticky better wear rating and way more confidence in the rain. A bit noisy but not like the hum you get from the nittos. Oh and Yokohama makes a 295 rear.
Is that the most camber you could get on stock ride height suspension?
Yeah, that's a TON of tire for a aggressively driven street tire, but would perform well at a long or hotlapped autox, or hpde for sure. Alignment is about where I have mine- although I've got -1.7 up front and -2.5 back.
You can't get a lot of camber with a stock suspension
You won't get any heat into them doing auto cross. How did you end up with nto1s? These tires are good at 25-27 psi hot. That takes a couple hot laps on a road course, bleeding down after sessions. If your just starting out you should mount street tires and find those limits first. R comps generate a lot more grip and expose weaknesses in suspension, braking and engine lubrication. I would suggest finding the limits of a street tire then advancing to r comps as your on track experience develops. Combined with some thoughtful mods these cars are pure corner carving machines. But without stiffening the suspension, proper alignment and lowering the center of gravity via coilovers the 4s will show it weaknesses. She'll dive into braking zones and body roll will be exposed. And therein lies the problem. Modding street cars.... you can go too far and then not enjoy on street any longer. My car is somewhere in the middle now. Aggressive alignment setup, deep sump, lowered, modified engine and exhaust but the final components I haven't committed to. Recaro buckets, harness and roll bar. BBi makes a burly roll bar, even fits the Bose sub equipped cars. But once I go in that direction I'll need an enclosed trailer, a bigger tow truck and probably a new wife. My tequila is wearing off... I'll pick this up again tomorrow
Try Mike Rose at 9ELF IN Santa Rosa. he's very experienced in setting up alignments. When I put tires on my car at local tire shop their alignment didn't feel right. Took it to 9Elf and the specs he set it to were perfect. 20k on them and even wear across the tread.
