Suggestion

I suspect if I used seafoam regularly, I might see a bigger difference when using Techron because they all probably work a little differently and are better or worse at various types of deposits.

Oddly, around these parts, the only reason to use V-Power is that it is ethanol free.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone using the JOE GIBBS Fuel Injector "Additive"? Is this some "miracle" chemical?

POST 2Original post

A few time a year I'll put some Techron in at fill up.

POST 4Original post

Quotes source posts: 15901313, 15901313

Yes. I doubt it.

POST 6Original post

Fill up at Chevron all the time and you don't need to worry about any additives. The Techron in it will keep the injectors clean.

POST 7Original post

I started using it a few months ago after I read that Charles Navarro (LN Engineering) says he recommends it. That was good enough for me.

POST 8Original post

Never have used this before. I will look into it. However, If the LN guys reccomend it then I'd assume its a safe bet. I did use seafoam top engine cleaner, and I surprisingly did notice an improvement in my car.

POST 9Original post

Not a fan of Chevron fuel, (might be just local) but additive works great. I use it in everything I own, I look for it on sale and stock up.

POST 11Original post

What type of improvement did you notice ?

POST 12Original post

Quotes source post: 15902781

The car felt smoother, and it felt like it had more power. I had a friend who had driven it prior and noticed it too, not as much as I did but I think it was placebo on my part. He didnt know about the Seafoam at the time.

POST 13Original post

According to Jake's bore scoring videos, Shell V-Power is the shizzle.

I may give it a go (been on my to do list since I got it running) but need another set of hands/feet correct? I think I read to spray into intake at 2KRPM's right?

POST 15Original post

I use Star Tron. My tech does too (I know the folks that make it and have read the lab reports) Use what makes you happy

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 15902886

Oddly, around these parts, the only reason to use V-Power is that it is ethanol free. The catch is that it is only 91. I find my 996 runs better on 93 (or 94) that has "up to" 10% ethanol. I have used both seafoam and techron and find the techron works better.

POST 17Original post

I think it's not a bad idea to rotate fuel additives. I usually use Techron, but I found that Seafoam seemed to work better when I tried it. I suspect if I used seafoam regularly, I might see a bigger difference when using Techron because they all probably work a little differently and are better or worse at various types of deposits. I've used Joe Gibbs stuff also, though I don't remember the impact of that specifically. I plan to rotate going forward. Flame suit on - there is also Marvel Mystery Oil - that stuff is magic in vintage cars. I've used it in our Audi a couple of times - seemed to work well. Not sure I'd broadly recommend it for modern cars though (although there are a ton of people who do use it every tankful on modern cars and claim it improves gas mileage).

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 15903105

Yup, here in California I am limited to 91.

POST 19Original post

No one has mentioned Redline yet? I thought I read somewhere that Redline was the only approved additive...

POST 20Original post

IIRC I thought it was Techron that was approved.
