Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

You have to have a SMOG (emissions testing) certificate before you can register the vehicle in your name.

I've been told in Oregon they dont need any type of smog test when buying a car.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've got a customer that wants me to help him sell a 2004 911 4S for him. Our shop did a bunch of work on it, but it has some caveats that may be problematic to sell in some places. I am going to get some good pictures of it and some more info this weekend, but trying to get my ducks in a row before listing.
Car had 28,000 miles on it when it came into the shop. We serviced it, replaced Aasco clutch and flywheel surface, and replaced IMS bearing (LN Engineering). The car has a VF Engineering supercharger kit on it, runs really well; but will not pass CA smog. After we did the work, the customer took it home and garaged it. Now wants to sell it. He only got it as a payment (lawyer stuff, I think someone went to prison). I have to confirm what kind of paperwork/title he has started with DMV. Just trying to get a rough idea of what kinda price range I should be looking at listing it at. Thanks for any help.
The owner sent me those pics, with rain one day and a wedding another, I couldn't get a chance to take my own pictures this weekend.
Think its worth posting in the classifieds here? I'm tempted to posting on BAT, but have never posted there before.
Yes, I'd consider posting it in the classifieds here.
BAT likely won't accept it.
They have become fairly picky, although they allow a lot of cars that I'm surprised about.

They are similar to BAT, but they specialize in European cars.
BAT only accepts certain cars that are submitted for auction -- not saying this car wouldn't make it in, but would need a lot more documentation and a detailed car.
If you're able to procure a bit more history on the car and figure out what's needed to pass emissions, clean up the car and fix any little things needed -- I'd say $30-32k to the guy at the end of your rainbo. As is, it's a $25-27k car.
Thanks for the suggestions. To pass emissions in CA, it would need the supercharger system pulled off and reverted back to stock. It's not a CARB legal kit. The CEL is not on as far as I know from his last visit to the shop though. Whats the smog situation in your neck of the woods? Do you need a smog to buy a car?
I'll try to reach out to BAT and see if it would even qualify.
You have to have a SMOG (emissions testing) certificate before you can register the vehicle in your name. So, if anyone in CA is going to be purchasing this vehicle, that will need to be done. And it will fail even though the CEL is not on due to failing visual inspection (they look to whether the 02 sensors are connected and the catalytic convertors and rest of emissions equipment (including the SAI) is stock and connected.
I think anything out of the ordinary and you will fail visual.
Yeah that's why I'm looking into selling it out of state. My shop smogs cars 2000+, so I know all the ins and outs of what can be smogged here. Seeing a blower with no CARB numbers would be a huge red flag. I've been told in Oregon they dont need any type of smog test when buying a car. Curious what other states may be like that too.
