Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Thing is I have removed the PCM 2 unit from the car and am still getting the same behaviour.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, I have a parasitic battery drain on my 04 996 on the D9 fuse circuit (labelled as Sound Package in the fuse list). My car has the factory fitted BOSE fibre optic sound system. The BOSE amp has 3 connectors. The orange wired fiber optic, a small black plug and a much larger plug containing a lot of pins. Whenever the large plug is connected there is a draw on the car battery of something like 230/240 ma. The draw remains at this level until the battery goes flat (i.e. it does not reduce over time as it would as specific system switch off). As soon as the large plug is removed from the amp the draw goes down to an acceptable 30ma. Removing either of the other plug does not reduce the draw. Thing is I have removed the PCM 2 unit from the car and am still getting the same behaviour. Any suggestion as to what is going on would be very welcome as I am pulling my hair out. I would have assumed that the amp got its power from the PCM 2 unit can anyone confirm that? Thanks in advance.
