Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Yes the cruise control problem was present before I installed the LED tails - I'm pretty sure its just the switch.
Leading evidence: 'present' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'present' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check mark in the + column' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

so @ this price I was OK with having a what is probably a "6th choice" color combo but it is growing on me.

Your '99 should have a dual-row IMSB, which in my opinion is a huge check mark in the + column.

My immediate plans for it are to replace the awful stereo, take off the bumper and clean the radiators and replace the motor suspension mounts (exhaust hangs 1/2" lower on left).

With a quote of $3-5K to repair (with a likelihood that there wont be much change) on a $12K car - I am sure you can reason with my line of thinking in this case.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I went thru the dash behind the radio and fixed it for about $10 and 2 hours.
Two owner, 110K on the clock, very well maintained for $12K.
Last owner had it for over 10 years and you can tell he took very good care of it.
What do you think?
Here is my doc for keeping track of it:

Very nice, but the price worries me. Mine is in the same kinda shape, but a 2000 MY, and I would've hoped I could get more if I had to sell. No matter, it's a beauty and I love the color.
Yeah I don't think the price was very normal. He had it listed for $13,500 for a quick sale after a longstanding listing @ 17K had no bites.
The shop I took it to for a PPI found seepage around the timing chain housing gasket - and quoted an enormous amount of money to fix. This helped me negotiate it down and I have no intention of fixing that seepage. Oil is cheap compared to that fix and I'm told "they all leak".
Other things helped drive down the price like outdated amber bottom halogen headlights, a foggy rear window, etc.....
No oil leak is normal period, is a sign of something failing, but just refilling the oil, fill up the gas and driving till the wheels fall off without any other maintenance is your kind of thinking, good luck!!!!

Thats definitely
not
my line of thinking - I'm a preventative maintenance kind of guy through and through. I replaced the valve cover gasket on
my e46 BMW
three times in the 8 years I had it and every time it still leaked.
In this case - it isn't really a
leak
- its more just seepage. With a quote of $3-5K to repair (with a likelihood that there wont be much change) on a $12K car - I am sure you can reason with my line of thinking in this case.
You did very well at 12k and I think the previous owners not only drove your Porsche, but maintained it properly as well. Do you have paperwork with your new cab? Congrats, you'll have fun at little cost.
nice buy - i'm not a fan of red porsches but with the top down and grey interior the car looks really nice
hope you don't mind but i lightened/cropped your photo - no charge
You already bought it, so there's no use wondering about the sale price. Let's assume the previous owner was honest and just needed the cash, and you just scored a helluva deal.
My car - that I spent more than twice what you paid - needed a cam cover reseal. Oil leaks aren't "normal," but they're also not unheard of in 15-year-old cars.
Your '99 should have a dual-row IMSB, which in my opinion is a huge check mark in the + column.
After a glance at your Google doc, I'm not sure I agree with the "you can tell the PO took really good care of it" assertion. I'd definitely look at all the deferred maintenance items known to cause issues if they continue to be ignored (coolant tank, water pump, etc. etc.) - but you bought in for $12K, so even if you spend a couple grand in maintenance, you still have a bargain.
Was the issue with cruise control already present when you installed the LED tail lights?
Yep I've got a lot of it - and the guy I bought it from is really upstanding and visits STL regularly. He is dropping more of it off next week so at that point I'll update the doc to have all of the items he did in the last ~10 years.
I haven't updated the doc, but yes the records show water pump and expansion tank done in the last 2 years, clutch a year before that, etc... He thinks he had the IMS done but hasn't found that record yet.
My immediate plans for it are to replace the awful stereo, take off the bumper and clean the radiators and replace the motor suspension mounts (exhaust hangs 1/2" lower on left).
Yes the cruise control problem was present before I installed the LED tails - I'm pretty sure its just the switch. Do LED tails also cause an issue w/cruise? It is a low priority fix for me - here is my list of projects:

Thanks! Yeah the color was definitely not my first pick. I have my favorite color combination on
my daily
so @ this price I was OK with having a what is probably a "6th choice" color combo but it is growing on me.
Nice - good to hear that the normal problem children have been addressed. I guess PO just ignored stuff he could live with.
My dear ol' Dad bought a Bentley Arnage which he maintains meticulously - but he hasn't bothered to fix the gas gauge. He's of the age and mindset to know how much fuel is in the car to within a half gallon anyway, but...I don't understand it.
Well I sold this one about a year after buying it - but last weekend I bought another 99 cab! A gorgeous Ocean Blue Metallic one this time.

So far I'm loving it with one exception - the heat is barely luke warm even once the car reaches temp! I don't smell any coolant through the heat - so I doubt its a leaky heater core - any other ideas? It blows plenty of air volume it just isn't hot.
It sounds like the foam has blown off the heat mixing flap. Do a site search, as there are quite a few write ups on repairing. I went thru the dash behind the radio and fixed it for about $10 and 2 hours.
