Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that suspect a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
I suspect others share my view as well, which is why this color is undesirable and has poor resale value.
Leading evidence: 'others share my view as well' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'others share my view as well' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've seen a few 996s in Mirage Metallic for sale. I actually like the color, but it seems to be an unpopular choice.
I've seen comments online referring to this color as "blah beige", etc. I think it's understated and tasteful, but maybe not "flashy" enough for a sports car.
Is it better to have a color other than silver for resale? I'm really trying not to put too much weight on color, and focus more on mechanical condition, but I'd like to hear folks opinion of this particular color.
I don't mind it one bit. I like that its not the standard, see on every corner, black or silver personally. Of course I my car is Orient Red Metallic (another fairly unusual colour).
You might even get an invite!

I like it but am biased because that is the color of my car. Always looks clean and is cooler in the sunshine state. I get a lot of compliments on how great the car looks. And my car is 20 years old. Call it "mirage metallic" but it's real name is Paladio Metallic, Paint #554, P/N 911 095 933 20 554
I think it looks great. I particularly like Porsches that aren’t silver, gray or black. You’ll find that as Porsches get older, it’s the unusual colors that people seem to like most.
It's a nice and somewhat unusual color - not my "cup o' tea" per se' (looks like a better match for a Buick imo) but if it makes you happy, that's all that counts. It certainly wouldn't be a deal breaker for me if the rest of the car was great...
I thought about buying one that color not too long ago.
It's not a bad color IMHO.
It seems that silver and grey gets a lot of hate on the Internet, but my Seal Grey 996 gets lots of compliments in-person.
People are always shocked that it is almost 17 years old.
It is often mistaken for a brand new 911 by people who aren't "into" Porsches.
That says a lot about Porsche paint quality, design, and the previous owners care.
It was a 54K mile "garage queen" until a year ago.
Now it is a daily driver.
I hate all silver, gray, black, tan equally. They bore me to tears. Not just 996, but yes - the 996 is over represented in those shades. Might as well get a Prius and be done with it.
I'm going to have to disagree with the group here at the risk of getting flamed. I don't like tan/beige cars at all, and particularly not on a 911. In my opinion, it is the furthest color from what a sports car should be. I suspect others share my view as well, which is why this color is undesirable and has poor resale value.
That's exactly why Porsche makes them in so many colors!
Heck - I drive a brown 911 (my second brown 911). I bought it because I liked it. I don't care about resale. I bought it for myself, not the next guy.

The other day a couple guys thought I was a friend of mine who happens to have a similar Blue 2014 991...
