Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I intend to get to know it, then probably replace the IMS bearing.

While you're in there replacing the IMS bearing, do the AOS and water pump.

Welcome Brother - Read / Learn and Share - that what it is all about - 15 years and my 996's are still running perfectly!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Greetings. Longtime lurker and finally did something about it. Picked up a 2000 Cab this past Sunday. Forest green metallic, black top, Savannah beige interior, 6 speed. Super low miles at 25,800. If I could order a used car, this would be it. The owner was a nice guy who is downsizing going into retirement.
I intend to get to know it, then probably replace the IMS bearing. Ive read enough about them that Im willing to pay the cost to manage the risk.
So far, I love it. Love looking at it. Dont see many of them in this area, east of Cincinnati.
Just wanted to say hello.
15 years?? And you havent been murdered by IMS bearing failures, etc? Lol can you tell me about your 996s? Unless I missed it, I didnt see info in your profile. Thanks.
Thanks charlie. What, if anything, can you tell me about Wright Motorsports in Batavia? A euro shop in cincy advised me to talk with them about the IMS issue. Thanks.
Beautiful car... I've always like green in a Porsche 911 especially when it's complimented with a tan leather interior. You're very smart in planning to have the IMS replaced. Have you decided with one you're going with?
I've heard they're serious when it comes to Porsches - IE they build cup cars.
My personal experience with them is limited. When I was replacing my IMS bearing I was having trouble getting my clutch aligned properly with the cheap plastic tool that I got from Pelican. I emailed Wright to see if I could rent a metal alignment tool from them and I never got a response.
Anyway, based on what I've heard about them, they're more than capable of doing the IMS. Another place that I would definitely recommend speaking with is

- they're in Mariemont and affiliated with Porsche of the Village. I've been to their shop a couple of times and the restoration projects they do are simply incredible. They also do IMS bearings and other maintenance. Super friendly staff that is happy to walk you through the shop and show you what they're working on + answer any questions.
Cheers
Charlie
Congratulations! I have a MY2000 Cab in the same color combo. The Forest Green Metallic looks completely different depending on the lighting conditions and I've never gotten tired of looking at it. It's a very cool paint but unfortunately it doesn't offer much protection from Mack Trucks. Ask me how I know.
