Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Run 15 40 synthetic' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace oil pressure sender and see what you get' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

My 2000 is 1.5 when normally warmed up and 1 when hot, I run Castro 5w40 syntec right now

Some cars however seem to run around 4 bar in the mid-range RPMs.

The oil pressure behavior is identical to Murphy's Law 1978's description, so perhaps the car is OK, especially if he has many miles or years experience running the car like that.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I would like to know what average oil pressures folks are seeing with their early model 996s or Boxsters, i.e. up to 2004.
If you could give me Idle, 2000 rpm, 3000, and 4000 on a warmed up engine I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks all.
same experience here. A 2000 C4 tip, I run 15 40 synthetic. I do not drive the car between November and May. Live in the north east. car has 150k miles on it.
Thanks for the info all.
The reason for the original question was concern with HIGH oil pressure. My son bought a '99 911 (996). The car's oil pressure runs above 5 bar at RPMs greater than 3000, the needle is basically pegged. I've been worried that the oil pressure relief valve is stuck and the pressure may be too high for the health of seals and o'rings; so am asking for feedback on the norms out there. (Replaced the oil pressure gauge sending unit last week and still have identical indications.)
The oil pressure behavior is identical to Murphy's Law 1978's description, so perhaps the car is OK, especially if he has many miles or years experience running the car like that. There is no redline on the gauge, and no maximums specified in any manuals I have consulted. Some cars however seem to run around 4 bar in the mid-range RPMs.
I also have concerns that the wrong spring is installed in the relief valve. I believe the GT2, GT3, and Turbo have a higher diplacement oil pump and stiffer spring. I will take Tony's advice and do some thread searches tonight. There is a very good article on Pelican's website but relates mostly to "air-cooled's", but some info carries over to this car.
I've found ambient temperature also plays a part in the pressure - as you'd expect it to (hotter the oil gets the less viscous).
Mine is pegged at 5 when cold - using M1 0-W40
