I don't think I need to change any of that unless I get alot faster and/or get off of street tires.

Still have some things to sort out with the racing line- decide whether I should downshift while braking into turn 7 or wait until turn 8, figure out how to negotiate 13-14 complex in a car that pushes so much (ended up using alot of throttle steer to rotate the car), and trust my brakes going into 12 as I almost always over slowed and coasted a bit there.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Took my 2001 C4 Cab to Circuit of the Americas this weekend for Schnellfest and my first DE. The car ran very well and I turned in some sub 3 minute laps which I didn't think were possible (for me) in a mostly stock 3.4 AWD and street tires. Never understood why everyone leans toward tracking a C2 vs a C4. Well I get it now. You Tube Here is a decent lap for me. Sunday's morning session. I'm hooked and I am proud of my car. D.

POST 2Original post

Congrats. Sounds like you enjoyed a successful weekend.

POST 3Original post

I like your front bumper - which one is it? Polyurethane or FRP ?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 14618954

http://www.fiberwerks.com/996_front_bumpers.htm I have this one. Going to be refinishing it and have it painted soon. PO accumulated about 37,000 rock chips and the original paint job wasn't that great. It does have a nice look though. D.

POST 5Original post

That is an awesome track! You should try to head out to Harris Hill as well, they have 2h private instructions for $240. Great deal I think. Shorter, less straights and pretty bumpy. But cheap and accessible, the guys running the place are super nice. What tires are you running now? If you ever need new tires, try something like Venus RS4 (street tires). It will blow your mind how much faster they are.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 14619831

I have Hankook Ventus EVO 2's. Very happy with them. And making it down to Harris Hill is definitely on the list. Have talked to a bunch of people that have told me the same thing. D.

POST 7Original post

Nice- CoTA is a blast. If you see the below at a track event- give me a shout. I mainly hang around MSRC now that TWS is a parking lot. I manage to hit NCM and Barber a couple times a year in addition to the Texas fun!

POST 8Original post

How did you do the overlay with rpm and gears? OBD something?

POST 9Original post

I was out at Spring Mountain Motorsports Park this weekend with PCA - we ran the 3.4 mile config...... this was my third HDPE with the car and I am learning more and more each time to trust the grip and my brakes... shaved a lotta time this weekend.......... too much fun

Yes, http://a.co/b2QZwNs on Amazon for 10 bucks. Bought two of them and they work like a champ. Then downloaded trackaddict app on my phone. Once I had all the data and the video, I merged it together with racerender to make the videos. $10 for the bluetooth ODBII, free app, free racerender program that was so good I went ahead and paid 39 bucks for the full version. So for less than $50, coupled with my gopro I put all that together. Going to make some more with some full sessions next. Just wanted to get a video of one lap out for proof of concept. Debo sends.

POST 12Original post

Next you'll be shopping for a track car, it's a disease......but one I don't mind having. -Jason

I approve of this thread. Your instructor sounds super encouraging which is the best instructor to have!

He was awesome. Patient and supportive. He was able to turn loose of the reigns a little bit and allow me to develop me further than I thought I would. I highly recommend a DE to anyone that has one of the cars because they enjoy driving it. Some of the best money I have ever spent. D.

Yes. Stock oilpan. I don't think I need to change any of that unless I get alot faster and/or get off of street tires. D.

POST 18Original post

COTA was fun even in my ex-BMW 550i! I can't wait to take my C4S out for a DE event there.

POST 19Original post

That looks like fun - i'd love to have something like that up here - and you have warmer sunnier weather! One day!

POST 20Original post

I am really struggling with the track vs street compromise with this car. After tracking it a few times it's obvious that this thing is very fun at a track, it's also very fun on the street! Did some modifications to my car and it just falls inbetween, it's bouncy on street but slow on the track... Mine us a 996 c2 cab.

POST 21Original post

Having a set of track wheels/tires and track pads that you swap out every time makes a big difference. If you remove your brake pad dampeners and zip tie back your pad sensors, an entire swap out is less than an hour. An adjustable set of coilovers is the other thing you can do that's allows the car to be setup for street or track.
