Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I run 997 GT3 brake ducts front and rear, these attach to the control arms, in addition I have modified wheel arch liners and rad cowl and run GT3 inner arch ducts.

The issue is not stopping power, I run Yoko AD08R and can lock these up, but on brake heavy tracks I suffer fade/soft pedal, (no matter how much I bleed and renew the fluid), in conjunction the cracking of the standard (brembo) discs around the drill holes is becoming tiresome.

If of course you can suggest any other options please do, however I do not want to go through the expense of changing the uprights and calipers, re, GT3.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Is anyone running 340mm slotted giro discs on their 996?
I am looking for feedback in relation to how they perform on track, do they offer any improvement over the standard disc's?
There is more surface area and their lighter, which theoretically are benefits, however how do they perform in the real world
And as a side note where is the best, read cheapest, place to get these in the US?
Thanks
C2 Aero lightened but still has an interior, I would imagine around 1295Kg (2855lbs) without driver.
Standard discs & calipers, running Pagid RS5 pads, Motul RBF 660 fluid, 997 GT3 Brake Ducts F&R, although I run a cup front splitter and question how much air is collected by the ducts. I have also modified the wheel arch liners and rad cowls to get more air over the discs.

The Giros have more surface area, no holes and save over 1kg per side, BUT and its a big but, do they add anything to braking performance?
If of course you can suggest any other options please do, however I do not want to go through the expense of changing the uprights and calipers, re, GT3.
I happen to be in the US come January and picking Giro up in region would save me $$$, if of course they are a worth while upgrade.
I think it will be an incremental step towards solving your problem. The biggest gain will be that the floating rotors run cooler in general. Second will be that moving the pads further out on the ring will give them more leverage.
Another upgrade I like is the 997 GT3 master cylinder. It won’t help the fade but it’s a relatively inexpensive way to improve the feel.
It looks like I’m going to end up with an extra set of girodisks and a front BBK. I’ll know for sure in about a week. PM if you are interested.
Evil Bunny, you might want to also look at your cooling setup?!
Are you getting any clean air to the disks?
Do you have the air deflectors connected to the lower control arms?
Are you actually boiling the fluid or just cooking the pas and rotors?
Hi Joe
I run 997 GT3 brake ducts front and rear, these attach to the control arms, in addition I have modified wheel arch liners and rad cowl and run GT3 inner arch ducts. - The only thing that could improve the cooling is cup brake ducts, these are large and not really suitable for street use when running front ride height at sub GT3 levels as they literally scrape on the tarmac.
Tekkie
GT3 Master cylinder reduces pedal travel and improves your ability to modulate the brakes / improve the feel.
Out of of interest where did you get your giros?
FWIW I ran Girodiscs on my Lotus track car. They were excellent, but as said above they are not cheap. It does make rotor changes a bit less costly though as you can re-use the "hat".
