Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Except that hole won't be a nice rectangle to jam a screwdriver in easily on an installed clamp

Here you go Soaring, found the old picture of how repair will look before completion.
Replace alternator, i barely touched this, and coolant flew everywhere

While replacing the alternator, I barely touched this, and coolant flew everywhere!

Go to Home Depot/Auto Zone and get a brass fitting to replace the plastic one.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ok so I'm doing my water pump and I touched this little hose and it broke off, and as you can see coolant is pouring out. Is this hose part of the sytem and under pressure etc.,
And how the fu*** do I fix it?
I'm impressed you caught it in action
That part is known to fail easily. A lot of folks like to insert a copper barb into the stock plastic bracket to make it more robust. I just replaced mine with the OE parts when they were still intact as a PM.
99610622652 (bracket)
99951263300 (lower Oetiker hose clamp)
99951265009 (upper spring hose clamp)
Also note the upper spring clamp is there for you to disconnect this line quickly and easily if you need to remove the left intake manifold e.g,. when you need to change out the AOS. Whenever you need to remove this line, you should also siphon out all the coolant from the reservoir to avoid the spillage like in the photo.
I broke the same thing. Go to Home Depot/Auto Zone and get a brass fitting to replace the plastic one. Make sure you get all of the plastic pieces out of the hoses as that plastic is brittle and just disintegrates. Secure it to the existing mounting bracket and you are GTG.
That sucks. I just had the exact same thing happen to me. But I was too busy trying to stop that geyser to snap a photo of it in action
Are you replacing it with the correct part or keeping this set up?
Did you bleed the coolant or just stick it back together?
Here's my thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...r-snapped.html
I'm gonna keep this , I ground a semi circle in the plastic holder part so the pipe fits into it then zap strapped it in place, this seams better than original as its almost impossible to break , i lost a gallon of coolant but had some coolant handy and a bucket all ready in place to catch the coolant since I was doing the water pump , but didn't have time since I had to leave at 6am on a road trip. 8 hour drive and she ran perfect , Vancouver BC to Nelson great twisty highway
I'm having to deal with this problem right now. How does one undo this clamp that's on the bottom hose?
I'm afraid of yanking out the whole damn tube or doing more damage if I just go nuts on the thing!
Oetiker clamp. To loosen it you can slide a screwdriver(s) into the rectangle and twist it to open it up.

Bringing this back from the dead rather than starting a new thread. Same story as many others. While replacing the alternator, I barely touched this, and coolant flew everywhere! What size/style brass coupler did folks go with?
I didn't really understand that part until I saw this picture of it:
Yikes not cheap at $51 for that R & S part but is does look nicely made compared to the OEM plastic one
