Now to work out the mounting issues as 944/928/993/964 seats all used a different mounting scheme that 996/997/986 seats.
Leading evidence: 'Use different mounting scheme' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair kits' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The Boxster uses the same connectors and I thought I had hit something with repair kits but those are NLA.

The round one is for the power and ground supply using the big pins.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey, all!
I'm putting some 996 seats into my 944. I've found info on getting them mounted and hooking up the power. The driver's is memory, too.
Something I'm not finding in part numbers for the pins and sockets in the connectors. I've gotten a pair of the multi-function connectors for the heaters, main power and buckle. But the ones I've got don't have enough pins to match the connectors on the seats.
The PET doesn't show the connectors or pins for the "X16" and "X17" connectors as those two connections are designated in the workshop manuals. Some connectors (E.g., x11/12) do have the parts called out. The Boxster uses the same connectors and I thought I had hit something with repair kits but those are NLA.
Is there a special diagram or parts list that'll give part numbers? I've tried looking up the connector through Amphenol but that came up empty, too. Searched the forum, other forums, etc...
I'll be looking to hook up the 1/2/3/M module to the memory unit next.
Any info or suggestions appreciated!
When I did mine, I simply went to a upull scrap yard and found connectors that matched. BMW, VW, Mercedes, Volvo, Saab all had similar connectors that matched well enough to build a loom.
For example the lighted drivers visor on a mid 2000s VW Passat is the same as one of the connectors on the memory keys.
Took me about an hour and cost $5
That's a good idea. I've got the connector housings but could use new pins. I could salvage the sockets off old connectors but I'm afraid I'd mess them up in the process. I might nd up there.
I've spotted some in the Digikey catalog that look close. Someplace there's a Porsche P/N or, better, the P/N for AMP or TE Connectivity for the sockets.
I haven't figure out a lot but I'm making it work, anyways.
Here are pics of the connectors. The round one is for the power and ground supply using the big pins. The small one is for the "signals" part. The connector for X16/17 has up to 6 pins of power/gnd and 8 pins for the buckle switch and seat heating control.
I've looked for the power pins and have found some similar ones but nothing exact. AMP and its TE Connectivity division make thousands of pins so finding the right pin/socket combo is hard. Looking at the connectors, I needed to move power pins around and, working delicately, I could work them out. The two connectors I got had six sockets between them and I could move them around so the driver's memory seat has two in the right position and the passenger seat (no memory) has four in the right spots. Each came with three. Done there!
The memory seat has the power and 1/2/3/M control run to the box mounted to the bottom of the seat.
The signal lines are easier. Once you get the connector apart you can access the tangs that hold the sockets into the sub-housing. There's a panel on the end that slides off and then the two 4-pin blocks can come out. I won't need the buckle switches on the 944 so moved all the sockets to the heater control lines. This still left me with three wires on one connector and all four on the other. Some of those light up the switch and I'll work out the issues later.
Now to work out the mounting issues as 944/928/993/964 seats all used a different mounting scheme that 996/997/986 seats.
