Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello, all. I am replacing the original rear shocks (70k miles) on my '02 Cab with B6 Bilsteins. I have purchased the shocks from Tire Rack, and the top mounts and drop links from Suncoast. I wonder if there is an alternate to the rather expensive bump stops sold by Suncoast, and how important they are in our cars. I am coming from the Miata world where the car basically corners on the stops, so I want to be sure to do the right thing as long as I'm in there. I assume that the top nuts are reused, as the shocks were supplied with out them. Is there anything else I should have on hand before the install?

The bump stops are worth replacing. Your shock will bottom out (when hitting bumps) if the bump stops deteriorate. They are $33 each from sunsetporscheparts.com
