Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

USAA would not give me a new front bumper and wants the auto body shop to "patch and repair"....

somebody should no the guy who charges more but does it right the first time,as far as cost and what people on rennlist think is either cheap or expensive is relative to where they live more or less, for instance i live in new york city witch as you know is generally more expensive than for instance oklahoma, that doesnt mean you cant get the same quality work done, just less choices, bumpers are especially important to be painted right, you will realize what kind of quality work was done, when you damage the bumper for the first time, the paint will crack or spider web,and if you use a paint film for protection, when you replace that film theres a good chance the paint will lift, all signs of bad p

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Cleaning up 78K of rock chips and spoiler scrapes. Removing a 12 year-old clearbra had also peeled off a couple of chunks of clearcoat.
Can't wait to pick her up!
Going to be about $3500 all told. Insurance is paying some for the clearcoat damage. Full, quality glass out respray was $12K. Just not logical on a much loved, but ultimately $20K car.
But now with the wheels refinished, the front resprayed, and lowered with Eibach springs and Konis, she is ready for another 80K. Until something else breaks. #OldPorscheLife
Nope. USAA. Just explained that I had damaged the car removing the old clear bra. No different than if something fell on the car in the garage. They accepted claim for a fender and part of the hood. I haven't had a claim that was my fault since (thinks some, realizes it was 1987, and feels old)... a long time ago, this one won't raise my rates.
No. I'm just going to accept what the road gives me.
And actually it was a degrading clear bra left too long on repainted panels that caused the non-factory clear to peel off in chunks.
Very nice! I just had the nose of my '03 C2 resprayed. It looks great. I had the wheels sprayed black, too while the car was in the shop. Huge improvement. (fwiw, photo was sent to me by the bodyshop guys -I'm not one of these ******* who runs with the wing "up" all the time)
This is a job on my list too. About a million rock chips and small scratches in the hood and bumper. Hard to justify the cost of a great full respray for a driver but the chips are starting to irritate me. Looks great!
Would really like to see finished pics showing the blend/match from front fender to door.
Looks great! Glad to hear that insurance covered some of it. I may pursue that. I'm about to remove a 13 year old clear bra from mine. In the last year it has begun to crack and look terrible. I'm not excited about the removal process and I know I'll need to respray the bumper at the very least. Hopefully the hood and fenders will be OK!

I got a quote for the same thing for my car last fall, it was about $2500 and I told them I would remove/install the bumper, headlights, etc. So sounds about right. My car was from Reno, NV, so a lot of sand blasting on the front.
Damn, this and the blue car are making my silver look really boring right now. :/
FWIW $3500 sounds right to me for a quality job that size. I'd MUCH rather have rock chips and even peeling clear than a cheap paint job.
I had mine done last fall.Just the bumper. It had a crack from a parking incident. I removed the bumper and brought it to the paint shop. All done for $350. Beautiful job. .. Oh yes I am one the*******that keep the wing up. So much nicer for me.
Driving home from my wedding a semi ran over debris and it nailed my front end pretty extensively.... USAA would not give me a new front bumper and wants the auto body shop to "patch and repair".... pretty effin dissapointed in them right now.
No matter were you live, good work just costs more, when it comes to paint thats really true, the labor and prep takes time and the longer that takes the more money it will be,thats just how it is.there are some shops that turn cars over very fast, those places are generally interested in volumes of work and not so much in doing it the right way, witch involves generally more labor and prep and that amounts to time etc.here in the new york and long island areas ive gone to places with my car,and they wont get involved with exotics and or porsche cars, they no us owners are generally into are cars in a special way and its not worth it to them if they do some mediocre job( witch is there specialty) and youre not satisfied ,it becomes a pain in the butt as they dont want to get married to any job.go to a shop look around see the type of cars they are working on,keep in mind alot of people dont care about their cars even if they are expensive vehicles,(leased etc) but at least the body shop is attracting that kind of customer, when it comes to certain materials that require painting its even more important that the prep is correct,i.e polyurethane and some plastics witch OEM aerokit parts are made from, those parts require heating prior to painting for proper adhesion, flex additives, etc.etc i could go on and on ,bottom line you generally get what you pay for in the body shop/paint world,so ask around talk to other porsche maniacs! somebody should no the guy who charges more but does it right the first time,as far as cost and what people on rennlist think is either cheap or expensive is relative to where they live more or less, for instance i live in new york city witch as you know is generally more expensive than for instance oklahoma, that doesnt mean you cant get the same quality work done, just less choices, bumpers are especially important to be painted right, you will realize what kind of quality work was done, when you damage the bumper for the first time, the paint will crack or spider web,and if you use a paint film for protection, when you replace that film theres a good chance the paint will lift, all signs of bad prep.
