Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, I just acquired 2004 996 carrera 2. Great car i love it !! My problem is that i found oil under the intake (the T part). A bolt seems to be unscrewed and maybe that oil is coming from the Hydraulicoil rservoir (really dont know what thats for) i cannit reach that bolt without removing all the intake... i joined picture of the bolt Thanks

POST 2Original post

The oil crud on the intake T plenum usually means your AOS is underperforming or it has failed. Check your crankcase pressure and it shouldbe around 5" of water. If it's much higher then you need to replace the AOS. To tighten that bolt, you may need to remove the throttle body and the T plenum to create more space.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the quick reply, ive read about the aos and you might be right. But my car is smoking white only at start up (and always after rain) and im pretty sure that there is too much oil in engine, maybe ( i hope) thats the problem...
