This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1999 tiptronic with 130,000 miles. Car sounds fine on start-up, but as soon as I put it in reverse to back out of the garage a terrible, harsh rattle starts - sounds like it is coming from near the wheel well (convertible with top down). If I put it back in park with the noise disappears. Put it back in reverse or drive and it's back. The noise persists for 3-5 minutes when driving, and then is gone. When I get to my destination I can park the car for several hours and fire it up and no noise. But when it is parked overnight, its back. Put the parking break on, blocked the wheels and put it in reverse. At first I thought i heard it coming from the exhaust (which is true - you can hear it from the pipes), but when you get your ear by the rear wheel well, it is even louder. Any thoughts before I take it to the dealership? Thanks all.
^ That (heat shield or you have a chunked catalytic converter), or one of the muffler baffles has let go.
Put the car on ramps and start whacking sh*t with a rubber mallet until you hear your rattle.
If your Triumph mallet was anything like the one i used for MGA knock-offs (i.e. a huge hunk of lead with some pipe sticking out of it)...no.
