Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

When I replace it with the original, everything goes back to normal (including sluggish/ intermittent starting)
I ordered Part #: 4A0-905-849-B-M56
http://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Inf...-905-849-B-M56
from pelican parts for my 2003 c4 cab. The part is black, while my original is white. The fit is a little different. It will fit, but there is a little more play in the depth it goes in.
When I powered it up, the dash lit up while the key was in the off position (I did compare the position of the switch to my original). I also got an airbag failure warning with the new switch. When I replace it with the original, everything goes back to normal (including sluggish/ intermittent starting)
When I review the part options that are listed for mine, there is another switch that looks closer to mine. Was there a switch in parts during the run? If so, why does no one seem to mention it?
I may be confused but my '03 switch was brown and the one I bought from amazon was $150 and brown. I believe it was Bosch and it fit and works perfectly.
Suggest you try Warehouse 33 .They seem to know these cars and offer a small(but welcome) Rennlist discount

The entire new ignition switch is rotating slightly when you turn the key ?
Check that the new switch isn't free to rotate even slightly?
Check the contacts on the switch for intermittent contact with an ohm-meter on the bench.
Ok, that's brilliant! I think I fixed it by bending the spring, which didn't seem to get actuated effectively by the clutch. I'll drive it around tomorrow and see if that took care of it.
