Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hello: convertible top was working fine before IMS replacement. Battery was disconnected during the IMS replacement. Now the rocker switch is not working. I am able to use the key to open and close the top. Hand brake is full up and engine compartment is closed. The mechanic is telling me that the hand brake sensor needs to be replaced. could you please let me know where the brake sensor is located. thanks d

POST 2Original post

It's located on the back of the handbrake. I believe you need to remove the center console to access the switch. Here's a site showing the switch on a boxster, but the 996 is similar. http://www.bombaydigital.com/boxster..._brake_switch/

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

great!!! thanks. I will give it a try...all else the mechanic is charging me $100 to replace it d

Given the amount of effort to remove the center console, $100 isn't a bad deal. It's not that hard, just a bit time consuming.
