Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Hi i own a 3.4 996 manual and the motor has blown so i have replaced it with a 3.6 but the 3.6 was an automatic, just wondering do i have to change the wiring harness that comes from the engine to a manual harness or will it just work like that.

Pure guess here, but when I swapped the wiring harness on my 3.4 (99/00), there were two things that did not have a home on both harnesses.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 2Original post

If Porsche make both a manual and an auto harness for both the 3.4 and the 3.6 engines then I would say a definite YES. Get the auto harness made for the 3.6 auto.

POST 3Original post

There are also vacuum lines and also AOS lines to take into consideration.

POST 4Original post

Pure guess here, but when I swapped the wiring harness on my 3.4 (99/00), there were two things that did not have a home on both harnesses. One electrical plug and one vacuum line. The plug was not plugged into anything on both motors (I had to take the harness off of both motors), and the vacuum line was plugged. No clue what it was for, but both cars were manual, so it is possible that they are the extra connections for the tip transmission. Again, this was a 3.4 so your results may vary, and I really have no clue.
