Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
I think I would like to remove the cats altogether then and just run performance mufflers to get the best of "both" worlds (performance and sound).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just wondering if there is much of a sound volume increase / tone change...
I am thinking of upgrading the exhaust not for power, but for a reduction in rear weight, and for a more aggressive sound. Then I wondered if I should try the sport cats with the OEM exhaust first just to make sure it wasn't too loud...
Would love some input... thanks.
I installed Fabspeed 200 Sport Cats as well as a Fabspeed Exhaust - definitely increased power (the cats, that is) but unfortunately, for my taste, it was WAY too loud and too much droning while highway cruising. I decided to go back to my stock cats and leave the Fabspeed mufflers on - perfect, mild sport sound for me..but definitely lost that lower end boost now that the sport cats are off.
I chose to do it this way but I suppose I could have left the sport cats on and re-installed the factory mufflers - either way I think you will notice a slight power increase as well much more sound coming from your back end
the stock cat is a 400 cell, you can get sport cats with 100 or 200 cell... yes, with sports cats it will be noticeably louder... BTW, 100 cell cats are known to trigger cel light, id stick with the 200.
most people do cans and if they are longing for more sound... they put the cats. have you seen the prices for sports cats... expensive.... plus keeping the stock cats ensure no cel light. But from what I understand stock cats restrict flow more than sport exhaust cans...
stock cat is not 400 cell...... it's ceramic and heavy and not comparable. I run a 200 cell platinum race cat you can see through. It's loud but I like loud. I also run without mufflers. This setup will kill your torque and you will need a remap to compensate. Once you remap, hold on, the car is a raging bull above 4000 rpm and shuts down at 7200. This is not for everyone, but you will feel the power increase and it will be noticeably faster in real world against normal 911's. I think optimal sound and torque might be high performance muffs and no cats but didn't want to hassle with annual checkups. MY CAR IS VERY FAST, HONEST.
I need a set of cats for my (high-mileage) 3.4, either stock or sport. Anyone have a set laying around? Please PM me, I will start my own thread as well but thought I'd mention it here. Sorry if this is against protocol.
I think I would like to remove the cats altogether then and just run performance mufflers to get the best of "both" worlds (performance and sound). Any way to do this without throwing CEL's??? Wouldn't this free up flows for performance but keep enough back pressure in the system for low end torque and drivability? I don't need to worry about "smog" checks with registration or anything!
