I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had to have the motor mounts replaced at 100,000 miles as well.

I took it back in to the shop to have the code read and luckily it was just a minor thing and they just reset the CEL.

So I got those items fixed/replaced and the car was running a lot better.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I hit a major milestone on the drive home this evening. Who says 996s are meant to be driven only on the weekends?
The car is going in for the 100,000 mile service on Thursday and next week I will take it on a long road trip to Montreal and Quebec. Any tips on good hotels, restaurants and (ahem) clubs?
congrats man!
cubs: super-contact.
restaurants: no clue..i usually hang out with brokeass students and go on pub crawls.
anything in the rich part of town should be nice..peel/crescent st. is uaully the place 2 be around f1 time
Nice work. I have 104k on mine and am about to drive from San Diego back to Michigan (again) for Thanksgiving. Going to head over the Rockies in the middle of winter, so it should be fun.
I hate seeing, and can't understand, how people have Porsches with barely any miles on them. What's the point in owning it if you aren't going to drive the heck out of it?
Congratulations on the mileage!
In Montreal, most restaurants will give you good food, (depending where you are will affect the price).
Trendy streets with an English/American flavor (as mentionned by Dead EYe), are Crescent St. and adjacent parallel streets such as Bishop, Peel. If you want more of a "French" feel, then St Denis street is the place you want to be.
Hotels are rated by stars at their front entrances, and anything with 3 stars and up is fine.
As for the "clubs", the finest one in the center of downtown is called Chez Paree and undisputedly offers probably the most drop dead gorgeous girls you've seen in a while.
If you want to be more specific on what you want to typically spend on hotels and meals, then I can be more specific on those recommendations.
congrats on enjoying it.
There is a great Relais & Chateau inn in Montreal area: L'Eau la Bouche.
One of oldest restaurants in North America is also there: Auberge Le Saint-Gabriel. If you like steak and fries(frites) (and you must cause its the only thing on the menu) you can try Entrecote St-Jean.
You won't be able to walk down the street without passing a few "clubs" in Montreal
There's one by the Eaton Centre (mall) that Hunter S. Thompson was reportedly quite a fan of...
congrats... I was reading some PCA Q&A section and they mentioned that since the alot of data are coming in with high mileage cars, people are starting to realize that these are great engines and silencing the people who bad mouth the new m96 engines.
I’m at 86k total but less than 20k on the engine (old engine died) so I figure I’ll be joining the club come summer time. Are the any AARP like benefits for making it this far?
I finally made it to Montreal. I left on Halloween day (Oct. 31st) and drove 8 hours (including 2 half hour breaks for food and gas -- for the car -- I don't mean like Taco Bell gas) to Albany. I hit some traffic getting out of Virginia (I hate the Beltway) and a little bit in New Jersey but for the most part it was uneventful thanks to the GPS unit.
I left Albany this morning around 9:30 and was in Montreal around 1:00. It was a very pretty drive up US I-87 to Canada. The falls colors in upstate New York are at their peak or near peak. I highly recommend it.
Anyway, I ended up booking a room at the Fairmont. I just googled it last night on my iPhone and I lucked out on a good rate. The fact that the hotel is centrally located is a big plus. I will hit up Peel St. tonight per a couple of Rennlisters' suggestion. Tomorrow morning I am taking a city tour which will get me more acquainted with the surroundings.
So far so good. Montreal seems like a very cool city.
For those of you who are wondering what to expect once you hit 100,000 miles... well, I took my car in for service right before I left and here's the deal:
My motor mounts were shot. I guess this was to be expected. I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee that had to have the motor mounts replaced at 100,000 miles as well.
While the car drove fine (no vibrations or anything) there was a noise coming from one of the rear tires (or so I thought). Turned out I needed the wheel bearings on the rear passenger side replaced.
Finally, the guys found a small crack in the oil filler tube which sometimes caused a rough idle when I first started the car.
So I got those items fixed/replaced and the car was running a lot better. I was confident that everything would be okay when just as I was about to leave the car threw a CEL.
I took it back in to the shop to have the code read and luckily it was just a minor thing and they just reset the CEL. I was told that I was going to need 4 new O2 sensors when I get back from my trip though (the CEL was a sign that the O2 sensors are starting to go bad.) So now I have to remember to save about $1,300 for the sensors -- can't blow it all at the Montreal Casino and strip clubs.
Au revoir.
