Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I bought Headers so I thought it would be a good time to change the plugs as well.

I changed mine two weeks ago using the RennTech instructions above.

It was a bit of a pain to remove the coil packs mostly because I didn’t have a J bend Torx wrench so I had to use a Torx socket which was just long enough to get jammed against the mufflers.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone done this? I had a few minutes Saturday while I was under the car looking at the rear pads. I decided to take off the dust cover and pull a plug to look at it. Dayum! I couln't even pull the cap/wire off a plug without a lot more work than I had time to do. I printed the DYI, but with manifolds etc., in the way, just how difficult is this? Approximantly how long and how many busted knuckles??
If I ever have to have the engine pulled, that's when I'm getting the plugs changed!!
It isn't difficult, you just need to jump under there and do it. I think it took me 45 minutes to do the right side and then 30 minutes to do the left. A wobble extension is a huge help.
Agreed...I put plugs in mine a couple of weeks ago..it's not a pleasant job by any means but as long as you've got patience it can be done pretty easily.
Took me probably more like 1.5 hours total but I took my time. If will need a universal joint and an assortment of extensions though.

It would be cool if someone could post the exact type of tools needed! Also, should plugs be changed after a certain amount of time - I only have 19k miles, but the car is 7 years old.
Pull the cans off,
It is just three nuts on the engine bracket and two clamps on the head pipes. Pull the cans downward as you pull the bumper outward at the very bottom.
It is way easy to get to the coil packs and plugs with the cans removed.
I changed mine two weeks ago using the RennTech instructions above. I bought Headers so I thought it would be a good time to change the plugs as well. I only had about 20K miles on them (new engine and all) but I’ve done 5 DEs so I thought I would go ahead and change them, it couldn’t hurt. It was a bit of a pain to remove the coil packs mostly because I didn’t have a J bend Torx wrench so I had to use a Torx socket which was just long enough to get jammed against the mufflers. All in all not to bad you just need to have a little patience.
