This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

If you decide to modify the 3.6 cans /mufflers to the PSE conversion are there special parts to allow for the system to go quiet??? Are is these available though porsche or otherwise...please advise. Thanks

POST 2Original post

No. However, they are not "sans muffler" loud. They are louder than stock configuration, but the real beauty of the sound is a lower, throatier, and louder (in that order) sound. If you go gently on the gas pedal, they are only slightly louder than stock.

If you perform Tim's "hack" on you stock cans there is no ON/OFF If you buy the Porsche Sport Exhaust (PSE) AND install the electronics you can have ON/OFF capability. If you buy PSE, but don't install the electronics it will be always ON/Loud. However, you could still connect the switch later.

"Sans" means without, so my original statement is that the PSE modded stock mufflers are not going to be loud like a car without mufflers. When you said PSE "conversion," I thought you meant you wanted to modify the stock mufflers to sound like PSE mufflers. What Ray said ^ about the "hacked" (modded) stock mufflers versus PSE with and without the switch.

POST 6Original post

Just remember that if you decide to put in the switch to turn them on/off, they will have to take apart a lot of your interior. You could end up with some squeaks and rattles. Just put the mufflers on and forget the switch. When I had my C4, I never even considered turning them off. They sound great!

Loren....who's the site administrator on RennTech has PSE's that he runs open with no switch. I've heard the car and it is truly very pleasing.....not loud and raspy like a Fabspeed....but my best description would be....obviously not a stock setup....but also not obnoxiously loud....a very classy and pleasing rumble. Let me clarify that I'm not knocking Fabspeed....there are a lot of guys out there who run them....they're just a bit too loud for me and some of them seem to resonate.
