Suggestion

I chose the x74 for mine because it gave me the drop I needed, the kit was complete and pre-assembled, easy install, no adjustments though but that means I do not have to have the alignment adjusted if I adjust my suspension.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi All, I Just picked up my first 996, which is a 2002 C4 Cab. triple black, navigation, heated seats, full leather, 45K miles, all and all the car looks really good. I have been snooping around this sit for a few, getting Ideas of which model, year I should look for. Reading a lot of post help a great deal on that venture so thanks to all!! I know no Pictures. My bad...but I just Got the car back home from a 2.5 hr trip no light out side and it is black will post some tomorrow i wanted to post pictures I think the rear and the side lights are smoked a little???, looks cool...I wanted your input...stock or custom FYI :4-large ,I have 4 young kids (3 boys and a girl).... POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So need to get the numbers up Well I am driving the car home, and it is totally incredible!! you all have one so a waist of words...I look down and I need gas. Pull into the gas station to fill up and what do you know, I am their like 15 min pushing buttons my back is going up and down, I am in the car out of the car, So this guy walks up and wants to talk to me about my car...at this time I am really trying not to look stupid..I think it was working. So he starts asking me about the car, does it this, that, how fast, yada yada then he looks at me and said WHAT ARE YOU DOING...I said looking in the manuel on how to open the gas door And gave him a look like how could you ask such a question, ya got it opened and left quick

POST 6Original post

Lol, 5 posts and you should be able to post pics! Dont sweat it, ask away!! But i encourage you to perform a search before common questions as may things have been covered in depth!

POST 7Original post

Welcome to the board and its the ole ''thread sucks without pics. Go in the OT and runs down five posts real quick. The gas tank thing was funny though. Enjoy it!

POST 8Original post

Sounds great! Welcome to the water cooled club. When my boys were young(small) they loved riding in the back seats of my 79' 911SC, but that was in 1994.Today they still talk about that car.

POST 10Original post

Jerry - Contrats and Welcome to Rennlist! Your car "sounds" nice, bit since there are not pics, we can't be certain of that. BTW, that was the nicest way I have EVER asked a "newbie" to POST the @#$%^&* PICS! Again, Welcome to Rennlist and the Porsche Phunny Pharm! Oh, and we'll wait a day or two and then help you compile your MODS list! (hee hee)

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 4665227

when u lock the car, the gas door get locked automatically, all 996 does this. OP, cong~~~ i still hesitate some times when pulling into gas station, becuase i need to figure out where the gas door is? is it driver-side rear? psg-side rear? or psg-side front? driver-side front?

POST 15Original post

Atta Boy!!! Guys, we got pics!!! Nice l@@king Cab. I like the Sport Design wheels!

POST 17Original post

About time you got those pics up...thanks and nice ride

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think this got some smaller??? Still have not washed. need to be washed, and waxed this weekend Thanks All Jerry

POST 20Original post

Very nice car, looks like you don't have to do much in term of cosmetics (Mods),...maybe the gauge-Alu rings, would look nice on your black-black car. Again welcome!

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I want PSS9 first! ASAP, and get a set of 19" for the street Not sure what will look good??? any thoughts But i agree that I need some goodies for the inside an that would be a good start when I am done with the out Cheers Jerry

POST 22Original post

I say keep those nice rims! I forget how cool the sport rims are - why go bigger?!

POST 23Original post

Quotes source post: 4668175

Yes lower it a bit but keep in mind your driveway, looks short and has a good transition area at the top and bottom (if that is your driveway in the pics I see). So maybe a RoW M030 will do you fine, but it's up to you. The 18's you have look good enough to keep.

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I like the cars that have no gap above the wheels, or small gap The PSS9 might fix that problem??? but also I think I want a 5 spoke more room for my hand when cleaning, break dust no fun cleaning Jerry

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had a 993 with small "springs" I think it was a 1.5" drop??? I had no problem in the drive way My drive way is the one with the door open in the pic. I want to track the car...I will not be aggressive on the track...I SUCK...No seat time...one event with M3...but i want to learn! So with that said would you still put on anything other than PSS9? Jerry

POST 26Original post

If you don't smoke, a cool interior mod is the non-smoker ashtrey cubby ! Great for holding your cell phone, etc., instead of a useless ashtrey.

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Andy I do not smoke do you have a pic of that cubby? or a link? J.

POST 28Original post

It will. Sorry but a sad excuse to buy 5-spoke wheels when other wheels look better on a Porsche IMHO. I can still get in through my wheel spokes to the rear part of the wheel to clean with the correct cleaning instruments when washing, and when I need to do a quick detail I use a Swiffer There are other suspension systems out there besides the PSS9. You will not get any swaybars etc. with the PSS9's where with other systems you will get a complete kit (M030 or x74 - I am not familiar with exactly what systems are available for your car to be honest). I chose the x74 for mine because it gave me the drop I needed, the kit was complete and pre-assembled, easy install, no adjustments though but that means I do not have to have the alignment adjusted if I adjust my suspension. Do some research on this forum for suspension as this subject has been covered many times before. With 18's and lowered suspension your car will definately be low. Don't get me wrong the PSS9 is a great system to have (street or track), so is the x74 and others. Keep us posted

POST 29Original post

Jerry....WELCOME ABOARD!! Car look great. You stealing my "signature"???? J

POST 31 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So were is all the mod Ideas Guy's M030 or x74 or pss9 I want to hear you thoughts...let the rip Thanks

POST 32Original post

OK here is a starter list: B&M Short Shifter. Aluminum Gauge Rings. Aluminum Pedals. Stock 3.6L muffler PSE Mod. Spoiler Switch installed in Horseshoe. Garage Door Opener Switch installed in Horseshoe. Painted the Brake Calipers Red. Painted "top hats" Silver. Suspension - like you said ROW M030 or X74 or PSS9 MK II side skirts. When you're finished with those mods, let me know and I will give you "page 2."

POST 34 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That sound Like a good start! where is the best places to get that stuff? I am leaning towards x74 where to get it an how long does it take on order time? Top hats? Spoiler Switch installed in Horseshoe, Garage Door Opener Switch installed in Horseshoe: Horeshoe? and are they kits PSE that is the pipe addition?

POST 35Original post

Quotes source post: 4672209

Top hats - first three pics. They also show my calipers after I painted them red. Spoiler switch and Garage Door Opener switch - 4th pic. They are the top two switches on the left side of the Upper Center Console (a.k.a. horseshoe). Do a search on "garage" and on "spoiler" to find some DIY's and all the specifics of the mods. PSE Mod - 5th pic. The muffler on the left has been modded to simulate PSE sound.

POST 36 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks gota911 this will help lots!!! PSE mod looks easy, how is the performance benefits? Im in for the try My breaks are silver, if I paint, powder coat? or?? and where do you get the lettering?? Top hat....will do! that looks sweet...clean Switches that is what I needed to hear, that will fill them all up. will look tonight on DIY for all and see if any body points me in the right direction on where to order that stuff Jerry

POST 37Original post

Quotes source post: 4672368

Jerry, here is the link to the best MK II muffler mod : https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=54027 You need to use 3.6L mufflers with SS pipe and SS welds to keep it right. Contact FisterD for any questions. BTW there are no power gains from this mod, just sound improvement. You can get the caliper paint at most automotive stores, it's made by Dupli-color (link here: http://duplicolor.com/products/caliper.html ). There are a couple of write-ups on this forum on how to do it yourself with this kit. You can also get the decals on eBay. I had mine powder coated which required R&R the calipers, more involved than the DC kit where you can paint the calipers while they are still on the rotors. Top hat painting is straight forward.

POST 38 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Speed D. Thanks I am with you and will Powder coat, will do it the same time I do the x74 reading your post and others on that setup seems better for me as well. thanks! My 2002 should have the 3.6 right? Any idea on the switches, I ask that know, but I just got back to the computer and will start the searc .

POST 39Original post

Quotes source post: 4672749

Although it seems you have read some threads and maybe mine already, here is some info: I got mine from a ebay seller through a Group Buy on another forum, PM me if interested in looking into this, his work is great but of course more expensive than the DIY. Here's a link to my thread of that mod and a couple of others I did at the same time: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=54027 Here's the link to my x74 install: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=54027 I want to say yes you have a 3.6L in your 2002, but I am new to the Porsche world myself so I am not 100% sure when they went from 3.4L to 3.6L to 3.8L. Others will chime in to answer that question. Sorry I know nothing about the switches as I do not intend to do any more interior mods except seats, harnesses and a roll bar for tracking purposes (and a fire extinguisher for anytime).

POST 40 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nice job, i like the yellow! I think with my black car I will do red, But not sure??? Found the first switch and ordered, looking for the second. Any thought on x74 where to order

POST 43Original post

Quotes source post: 4672749

Contact your P-car dealer for the switches. The spoiler switch is actually a 996 Turbo Spoiler switch. I don't have the part number for that, so just tell the parts guy it is a 996 996 Turbo Spoiler switch. The switch used for the garage door opener is a Targa Shade switch part # 996 613 119 10 A05.
