Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Interesting, mine has never seated against the block, just checked now.
Leading evidence: 'Check now' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check now' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Do you have the correct filter in there and did you lubricate the o-ring with clean oil?

If I run into another problem and have to remove the canister, any idea how much oil is going to flow out?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just changed my oil for the first time. Didn't take note when I removed the oil canister, but when I put it back on there is about a 1/8 to 1/4 spacce between it and the engine block. In other words, it does not sit flush against the engine block. Is this right? Torqued to specs and no leaks, just looks funny. Thanks.
The canister turned on fairly easily and then got tighter to turn as I went. Didn't seem like I forced it enough to cross thread. I'll try and give it that extra nudge to see if that does the trick. At least there is consensus that it should be flush. If I run into another problem and have to remove the canister, any idea how much oil is going to flow out? More than what the canister contains? Thanks.
You'll just lose the amount of oil in the canister. Plus a few drips. Do you have the correct filter in there and did you lubricate the o-ring with clean oil?
Interesting, mine has never seated against the block, just checked now. It has about a 1/16 gap. There isnt an extra O-ring, it would leak under pressure. hmmmmm
