Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

Surprisingly, it fixed itself after the car was off for several hours.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi there, I have a 2003 coupe and the stereo died this morning. Wondering if anyone has experienced this problem and could provide some guidance? I tried using the search feature but came up empty on a number of searches. 1) I have a CR23 I believe. I know I'm on the MOST system with a full Bose speaker system 2) Radio turns on and lights up, all functions including CD work. 3) However, nothing can be heard on the speakers no matter what the volume setting 4) I've tried all functions (AM, FM and CD) and the behavioral is the same I don't believe it's a loose connection, but is there an inline fuse somewhere for the amplifier which I can check? Or, is there some known issue with this headunit? The unit is practically brand new since my car has less than 8,000 miles on it. Sadly, I fell off warranty about 10 months ago. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks, Peter

POST 3Original post

If it turns out to be a bad amp, I have an amp and head unit available from my 2003. I replaced them with a Pioneer Z2 and new large amp.

POST 4Original post

I've experienced that too. Surprisingly, it fixed itself after the car was off for several hours. Damned annoying though. I kept hearing Scotty's voice going "She's giving all she's got, captain!!!"

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh great, now it works again. Looks like it's just getting wiggy. Thanks, Peter

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Works again. it would appear that an ignition reset brings it back to life. Go figure...

POST 9Original post

try pulling fuse d8 and d9... resets it and usually works - but ultimately will need to be replaced.

POST 10Original post

On my '03, the head unit started to mysteriously turn itself on and off all on its own. Dealer replaced the amp. I would never have guessed the amp would have caused that.
