WHen I swapped my black badge for the silver one, I wanted to make sure I got teh badge in exactly the right place so I drilled a couple of holes in the deck lid and inserted a couple of bolts then I ran a string between the bolts to align the badge (1st pic). It worked perfectly!

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Washed my car and broke a small piece off the Carrera script... I am thinking of removing it totally, does anyone know what to use to remove the "glue"... If I do decide to get a new carrera script, what do I use to glue it on with ? While I am asking the questions: Anyone have experience with the rennline pedals ?

POST 2Original post

Saw the old one off with a length of dental floss. Use some "Goof Off" or WD40 to dissolve and remove any remaining adhesive. The new one will come with a self-stick adhesive backing.

POST 3Original post

Use masking tape to 'mark' the position of the original badge before you remove it - that way you'll get the new one lined up perfectly first time!

POST 4Original post

Any Goo Gone, Goof off type liquid will work! Buy it anywhere, I got mine from a supermarket!!!

POST 5Original post

What they ^ said about removing and replacing the badge. What color is your car? If it is dark, yo may want to consider replacing it with a brushed silver badge. My Lapis Blue C2 came with a black badge and I replaced it with a brushed silver colored badge, which looks much better, IMO.

POST 6Original post

Quotes source post: 4660639

Works best when you let it soak into the glue for 10-15 mins before trying to wipe off - just an observation

POST 7Original post

Like Tim said, the color of your car plays a big part! My car is white and I had a silver 911 on the rear. I upgraded to black 19's and changed my badge to the black carrera to complete the monochromatic look! What color is yours, we wont hesitate to force our opinion on you!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for all the responses, my car is seal grey with black interior, I think the black script is what I will stay with...

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

BTW Tim love the brushed silver against the blue...

POST 10Original post

Quotes source post: 4660700

Great choice, the black definitely looks better on the grey and white cars. There are similar threads that provide you with the exact measurement for placement if you have troubles!

POST 12Original post

I used a blow dryer for a small amount of time, then it came off very easy with some dental floss (and my hands smelled fresh afterwards) . Used my fingernail for the larger pieces of glue. Then the goo gone and elbow grease for the rest!

I've got them on the GT3 and they're awesome. Great quality, easy to install, hard to beat the price. Still look great 2 years later. No affiliation, etc., just a happy customer.

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 4660706

Thanks! I would agree that the black badge looks good on the seal.

POST 15Original post

What they said about removing it and marking it before removing it. As for the colour of the badge, I thought it really depended on the oil you used in the car, or was that the colour of the calipers, or was that the brake fluid type and/or colour

POST 16Original post

WHen I swapped my black badge for the silver one, I wanted to make sure I got teh badge in exactly the right place so I drilled a couple of holes in the deck lid and inserted a couple of bolts then I ran a string between the bolts to align the badge (1st pic). It worked perfectly! You can hardly even see the bolt heads on the deck lid (2nd pic).

POST 17Original post

Damn drilling holes would have been a good idea, I used a hammer and self tappers! Be aware Tim these days they will take you seriously!! See my post on wind drag on glass vs. paint!!!

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 4661385

Yeah, you're right about that! BTW - do you think a little touch up paint will make the bolt heads invisible?

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 4661444

Ha ha, funny you should mention that, all I had lying around was that tree trunk paint, It matches my car pretty good. Who knew tree trunk paint was glacier white!!! Maybe Eric can make us some plugs!

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Tim, Can't quite tell from the picture, but I assume the bolt heads have a brushed silver finish... BTW what size drill bit did you use?

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 4661680

Brushed silver bolt heads? Yeah, you betcha! I used a 3/8" drill bit. I thought about using a 1/4" bit, but since I was going to be using nylon string (none of that cheap cotton stuff for my Porsche, no Sir! ) and planned to stretch the nylon string really tight, I thought I had better "Biggie Size" it. What do you think, did I do OK?

POST 22Original post

gota 911, your badge still doesn't look straight, you might have to drill another hole to get it perfect. I used a metal ruler and scratched a line in the paint just under the logo. Now I can replace it as many times as I want and get it perfectly aligned every time. Might try the bolts and fishing line instead and fill in the missing paint with my fill-in pen..

POST 23Original post

Quotes source post: 4660224

they are the best imho.

POST 24Original post

Quotes source post: 4661345

Haa!! Cool, speed holes!! Helps get more air to the engine, right! And the bodies are galvanized, so you don't have to worry about rust! Great job! You should have left the string there, to hang various ornaments during holiday time!

POST 25Original post

Quotes source post: 4661225

Almost... if you installed a clear bra it was silver, otherwise it was black.

POST 26 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Redridge, Those look fantastic, the whole interior shot is "+A1", I will opt for the "Alu" color since my interior is black, how difficult are they to install...

POST 27Original post

Quotes source post: 4664122

Thanks, the "alu" with black will look great. The install was easy, but if you're a big guy it might be a bit cramped... remember to measure 2x and drill 1x.

POST 29Original post

Tim...I don't think you need to drill holes...the badge comes with double sided tape! And how did you cover the holes after you installed the badge?? Don't you think that this brings the value of your P down?? The combination of blue with a grey interior isn't that fantastic as it is....and now you got to sell the 2 extra holes in your car...maybe you can tell the potential buyer (if you ever get one!) that the holes are for a GT3 spoiler.

POST 30Original post

oeps I forgot to add..... :ba nghead: So you know I was only kidding! about the holes......

POST 31Original post

Quotes source posts: 4666522, 4666560

OK, I think I have come up with a better solution. I bored the holes a little larger and added a couple of lug nuts. I think it looks AWESOME!

POST 32Original post

Wow your right. Will you write a DIY with pics in case we want to do that

POST 33 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I saw on the "Net" someone makes those with the Porsche shield painted on the center of the lug nut... Cool....

POST 34Original post

Quotes source post: 4667388

Oh man, NOW you tell me!!! Well, off to ebay to find some!!!

POST 36Original post

Damn Redridge, The interior of your car is soooooooo nice, it makes me feel like im driving a poor mans p car! 4 spoke wheel and all!

POST 37Original post

Does silver badge match well with yellow car?

POST 38Original post

Quotes source post: 4668296

They make an ointment for that.

POST 39Original post

Quotes source post: 4668606

I personally dont think so, IMO black is the only way to go on a yellow car!
