Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ok so i had the rear turbo twist sitting in my garage for a while and was trying to sell them but couldn't... so i figured what the hell ill by the fronts and just put them on my car. so yeah im looking to put a 245 on the front and 295/30/18 on the back... my question is what is the correct aspect ratio for the front and wil the 295/30/18 fit a 10in rim... o and my car is a 2000 narrow body thanks in advance...

POST 2Original post

Not totally sure, but I think you need 11" rims in the rears to put 295's on? Anyone? j

POST 3Original post

Why put such wide tires on the front? I always believe the stock setup is what Porshe engineers thought worked best, so why go against that?

"Aspect ratio" ? By any chance are you thinking of D1 video 720x486 at 0.9 ???? First time i hear someone outside de video industry use such term... -Frank

POST 5Original post

225 or 235 on front and 265 or 285 in rear. If you want to move to 295 then you need a 11" wheel.

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 4665124

With tires, the aspect ratio is the second set of digits in a tire size, e.g. 225 40 18. 40 describes the height of the sidewall as a percentage of its width. To maintain a constant rolling circumference, you should see that number drop as the tire gets wider.

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 4665352

Absolutely correct. However, one small note. It is RD (rolling diameter) that is measured, not circumference. Circumference would be referred to as Revs/Mile. Yes, that will be affected by aspect ratio, but the OEM specs will specify a RD. For example, 25".

POST 9Original post

I've run 245/35's on the front and 295/30's on the rear with no fit issues. (I don't know if the 245's would have been a problem if I didn't have -2.5 degrees of negative camber up front). If you check the allowable wheel widths found in the tire manufacturer's specs, you'll find that most 295's fit on 10" wheels. However, I'd recommend checking the spec sheet of the tires you're going to buy as there is some variation amongst manufacurers. Although the 295's fit, they provide a longer final gear. I really didn't like the way it made the car feel more sluggish and went back to the 285's.

POST 10Original post

A lot of the the turbo twist front wheels are 7.5 inch wide. However, I think they did also make a 8 inch front wheel. I don't think that a 245 tire will fit the 7.5 inch wheel.

POST 11Original post

235/40 front and 285/35 rear is my recommendation or 235/35 and 285/30

POST 12Original post

I have five (5) sets of 996 Turbo Twists I need to get rid of (won't fit the GT3). I think they are 8x18ET50 and 11x18ET45. I don't think they will fit narrow body cars at all. Two sets are hollow spoke and the other three are solids. One set of hollows is a pretty street set and the others are track wheels with a few scuffs. PM me if anybody's interested.

I have to disagree with both of you. I have 18" x 10" turbo twists and have 295/30/18 PS2's on them for the last 7 months. No problem with firment. Tire Rack states the 295 will fit on 10" - 11" wheel. Oscypek - what width are your front wheels. If they are 8" wide you can go with 235, but I would not recommend going to 245 as they may give you rubbing issues in full turning lock.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

550 for all 4 they brand new... without tires.... i was asking 300 for just the rears also the fronts are 8in wide so yeah... i figured 245 would be to wide... only problem with going 285 in the rear is i want ps2 and they don't come in a 285 rear i don't think

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 4666342

That is correct, the PS2's are not available in 285. I have 235/40/ZR18 N2 on the front and 295/30ZR18 N2 on the rears. I lam very satisfied with the PS2's.

Tim, it's not that you "can't" put a 295 on a 10", but rather it DOESN'T go on a 10" rim. You have essentially the same contact patch as the 285 goes on the 10" to begin with b/c of optimal fitment. Put too large a tire on a rim and you decrease the contact patch intended. Remember, fitting and optimal are 2 different ballgames. ps. what the heck is "firment"

POST 17Original post

Quotes source post: 4666474

"firment" is the new slang for "firm fitment." OK, OK,.... I "fat fingered" the R instead of the T!

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 4665377

No doubt true, and much more convenient than figuring out circumference. Radius is a logical proxy, since it's the only variable in calculating circumference. But I always think of it in the more fundamental terms, just because it reminds you that the risks of screwing with tire size aren't just to fit, but also to gearing, speedo error and, on a lot of our cars, the operation of PSM (where rolling circumferences must not vary front to rear by more than... I forget... 3%? 5%? Something like that). I'm pedantic that way.

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yeah so i figured since winter is comeing im just going to keep the rims in my garage... and then in the spring ill put tires on them... untill spring they are still for sale if anyone wants them 550 or best offer and i can get you a good price on tires if you like. also i decided on just going 235 front and i think there is a 275 pilot sport 2 so yeah.
